I thought your Spitzer comments were spot on. I enjoy your blog and find the information posted here very useful and the fact that you actually have a life is what makes your blog even more interesting. My mother always said that to be an interesting person, you have to live your life for yourself and be your own heroine. Sometimes we have to take a risk and not worry what other people think.

Don’t change to suit your readers. If I disagree with something you say, it is just my opinion or my values that conflict on that particular instance. By and large, I really enjoy your blog and your values seem to match mine. That said, I recognize that saying something about a person’s chart is just you, the astrologer, stating the obvious. Spitzer screwed up. He didn’t just use righteous indignation in going after criminals (and prostitutes!), he was rabid about it. There is a difference. In my own life, anytime I’ve been a rabid dog about something, it always came back to bite me in the ass. Live and learn. I am not from New York but I remember seeing Spitzer on TV and at the Giants parade and thought he was quite a great speaker. It is too bad he did this to himself. People need to be honest about cause and effect and whose fault it is. If you hurt someone, you are going to get hurt right back. It might take awhile but the laws of nature are a balancing act.

Well anyway keep up the great work!

    Hi Pat,
Like everyone, I am working on maintaining FULL presence even while under personal attack. What I found upsetting about the attacks is that they were personally directed at me. Just nasty grunts really. No discourse.
Anyway, i did see him as a scapegoat for a reason. Being a NYS resident all my life, i know which politicians and newspapers are on which side. CNN was interviewing Spitzer’s enemies, but not making that clear. Later broadcasts started to make that clear. But I realize that if you don’t live there, you wouldn’t know. Then the bandwagon started, calling names, immoral, and I just finished writing many pieces about the current Mars-Pluto opposition (3rd time opposition) and here comes this seedy scandal. And who does it benefit? The hooker who is now selling her songs on iTunes? It is about astrology, there is a Mars-Pluto opposition that is about making hidden power struggles obvious, and that is what is happening on many levels. Spitzer’s career centered on uncovering corporate corruption more than prostitution rings. Yet, it is his own seeming arrogance and drive that turned many against him, and created the feeling of joy at his downfall. And that is why it is sad to lose his energy in the public sector.

With so many serious life-threatening real problems, getting hostile when mentioning that a sex scandal just doesn’t have the world-impact that so many other things do, and focusing our attention on this, while it’s business as usual, does seem like we are scapegoating. And on a personal level, it is far easier to point fingers at others than to look honest at yourself. And during a Mar-Pluto opposition, it is even easier. But the good part is that it shows us, clearly, that it doesn’t work. It doesn’t heal anything to point blame. Ok, laws were broken, but the public fascination with the story, worldwide, shows how much we are drawn to finding blame in others. And how this does not contribute to world peace or anything good, while it does make more people feel miserable. Not that what he did was right. Yes, he rapidly went after corruption far more significant than busting a prostitution “ring”. Agreed, it is hypocritical and his karma is to get caught, the astrology transits pointed right to it, and BTW, my ego needs to state I was right about the timing of his resignation ;-) But that’s just astrology at work!

One more thought. I posted Spitzer’s chart because i found it on the yahoo political astrology group. It wasn’t “clean” data, but casting it and looking at it, it was RADICAL. So I posted it. NEVER before or since did my blog get so many hits. No sales (good ;) but thousands of hits. So of course I got comments from strangers that were hostile. Trying to reduce everything to a grunt. Meanwhile, we all have things to do!

Well, I think it just highlights what Lauren said about the Mars-Pluto influence initially, blame is the name of the game. Typically, the news coverage went from a ‘how the mighty have fallen’ to ‘blame the fallen woman.’ Interseting how both of them are not what they appear to be on a surface level: he’s not some Dudley Doright crusader, and she’s not a poor little abused orphan. Seems like lots of hypocrisy is being exposed now, Dina Matos McGreevey is allegedly complicit in her her husband’s bisexuality. What else? The economy? The housing and credit crisis maybe, investors thinking they can get away with the impossible, giving away mortgages to people unable to sustain them? No one seems able or willing to look at the long term consequences of their actions, in the micro or macro. It all makes me feel very sad for humanity. Are we learning anything? Have we? Will we?

One of the reasons I like Lauren’s interpretations the judgment-free tone. It would be so much better if we could objectively examine the myriad elements that influence any situation, person, decision, and see it as a whole instead of just fixating on one aspect and automatically passing judgment. That always makes everyone feel worse, and doesn’t do much for coming up with sensible solutions.

Eff the haters, Lauren, you rock. ;>

Just wanted to bring up a point about EFF’ing. When you’re in a town meeting where the officials and the people with the most money are telling you how many of your rights you just lost due to them imposing more laws and rules, telling them to EFF themselves will keep you powerless. Giving in to their power will do the same. The advise of course is to state your case without emotion. Just the facts. AND— be ready for someone to tell you how emotional and wrong you are, even when you are calm and stick to the facts. It’s an easy argument to tell someone to “get back on their meds”, and it can be effective in stopping further dialog. It’s intentionally separatist, which is a clue that it’s ego inspired. Yet, even when the people with the big egos and $ win, they will be questioned again and again, and there may be a time they lose. NOTHING is permanent. But what the hey, when things fall apart you can just blame the closest seemingly weaker person.
We are up against it. And we really need to remain calm, even though all our buttons are about to get PUSHED.
This week’s Equinox and Full Moon are a further intensification of the current ego mania. So hold on, or better yet, let go
