The Full Moon in Scorpio on Sunday, April 20

Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon oppose. The Moon is in Mars-ruled Scorpio. The Sun is in Venus-ruled Taurus. This makes the rulers of the Full Moon Venus and Mars. And planets Venus and Mars are currently in a challenging square aspect that includes Jupiter.

Grand Trine with a Kite
There is hope! There is a Grand Trine that includes Saturn trine Sun-Mercury trine Pluto. Both Saturn and Pluto sextile the Full Scorpio Moon, creating a Kite to the Full Moon. This is sounding better!

The meaning of a KITE formation is assured good fortune. Yet, not everyone will enjoy supreme good fortune. Who will? And how?

Anyone who can get in the flow with whatever it takes to succeed. There is finally an outlet for your drive to work at your talents and attract the success you want– right to you.

The location of the Full Moon in your birth chart, especially the house ruled by the Moon, shows where you may receive additional benefits when you focus on the practical realities of achieving your goals.

This Grand Trine with a Kite can make us very successful– if we’re willing to take responsibility and not blame people or situations. If you had nothing to do with what happened, how can you change it? Or improve it?

When we stay positive, we can be resourceful and find better ways of making more money.

You can attract the success you want– directly to you. The caveat is that we can become obsessed with the material possessions our success affords. We can direct all our energy towards getting more and collect possessions that we don’t really need, or want.

The main part of the Grand Trine is the year-long trine of Saturn to Pluto. At this time, you may realize your life purpose. And the next question is: how are you going to achieve it? Thinking about it, being 100% positive about the results, is a good way to vision your goals. But this is an EARTH Grand Trine that includes serious heavy-weights Saturn and Pluto, with the Sun in Taurus. This is the time to be practical and set goals. And you can set goals more easily if you know your priorities. Not everyone’s priorities are the same. This Full Moon at 0 Scorpio can reveal the best way for you to work towards your goals, not the cool coverup that will help you continue to pretend to be doing “just fine”. Or living on autopilot.

The KITE to the FULL MOON in Scorpio shows that what is normally hidden can become public. This is a FULL MOON after all! The light is shining brightly on what we may rather keep secret. Yet, it’s time for spring cleaning, which means finding and removing the dust, darkness, and debris. We can reveal the fear for what it is, instead of pretending it’s not there and blaming whoever is convenient in the moment, whether it’s a partner, child, boss, employee, friend, relative, bad driver, or neighbor.

What do we keep hidden? What we think others think about us. And that degree of internal stress is a killer. Literally. But it can be released. You don’t have to carry the judgments of others who do not care to understand what has brought you to this point. It is easy to judge someone– our egos love any opportunity to put ourselves above someone else. Yet, any negative thought increases tension, apprehension, paranoia, stress. It adds up and it doesn’t feel good.

Yet— there’s a KITE. We can feel great! If– we’re willing to stop judging, stop taking on the negative judgments of others, and lean into what you’re really good at doing, your talent. If what you pursue is YOUR choice, you will have energy. Even if you’re doing the exact same tasks. If it’s not your choice, you will feel a lack of energy, a sense of drudgery. But this is helpful. It’s telling you this is not your flow.

The State of Mars
Scorpio’s personal ruler is planet Mars. The influence of this Full Moon in Scorpio is revealed by the condition of Mars in the Full Moon chart. Mars is in Cancer, part of a T-Square, and in mutual reception to the Full Moon in Scorpio. Mars is also trine Uranus, bringing something wild into our lives.

Mars in Cancer is currently square Venus and approaching a an opposition to Jupiter (April 24).

As in the previous New Moon, the Moon and Mars are again in “mutual reception” (in each other’s signs). The Moon is in Mars ruled-Scorpio, Mars is in Moon-ruled Cancer.

The effect of the mutual reception is that the planets become interchangeable. This puts Mars in the place of the Moon. Mars, as well as the Moon, is at the focal point of the Kite. It also makes the Moon part of the T-square, integrating the Kite with the T-Square. This is the time to step up and start getting things done.

The mutual reception gives Mars more focus. What you concentrate on, you can achieve. If you feel obstructed or prevented from doing what you know you need to do, you can start to feel irritated, angry energy rising slowly within. This is a signal. You can observe without immediately reacting. You can resolve to realize how far you’ve come in mastering your emotions during this Full Moon. And this can help you to see beyond past limitations.

The T-Square
T-Squares are made of 2 squares and an opposition. Squares and opposition are considered negative because they represent resistance. Yet they also give us reasons to strive, help us to build, and give us momentum. Venus in Aries is at the center of this T-Square– square Mars opposing Jupiter. The pressure to be social is ON. Connect from a distance and close up.

But why are we feeling so driven to socialize? If you are working too hard and trying to get your sense of self-worth from others, you may not be compatible with the people you attract now. The perfect partnership you envision may not exist in the way you imagine, at least not without some effort. And jumping into what seems to be a great relationship may be overlooking possible conflicts of interests.

If you’re just in it for what you can get, you may not come across as being sincerely friendly or caring. But if you really do care, you can interact in a way that creates energy that is so lively and attractive, it encourages people to cooperate.

If your hope is to get more for less, you can get bought out for a lot less than you’re worth, or make an offer that is lower than “market value”. Whether it’s a job or your home, if you (feel you have to) jump to make a quick deal, you can get undercut in self-worth and price. Usually, we have the option to stop, assess, take a deep breath before making a decision. But this is a Mars-Jupiter opposition, so we can be VERY eager to move on something — yesterday.

Venus and Mars square
Venus is quickly approaching a time of stronger influence. Venus in Mars-ruled Aries and squares Mars, the ruling planet of Aries.

Venus is cooperative while Mars looks out for #1. Working together, Venus and Mars can create a harmonious give and take. Working at cross purposes, symbolized by the square aspect, one can give, the other can disregard requests for cooperation and take whatever they can get. But being cooperative can work against you if you become dependent on others to make decisions. Venus also carries the theme of choices. When Venus is strong, there can be something you need to decide. If our choices depend on what we think others want, we can work against ourselves. When someone tells us what we SHOULD do, the feeling that comes up most often is anger. Most of us don’t like being told what we “should” do. So we don’t really want others to make our decisions for us! The solution is not to get angry, it’s to get aware. Living for what we think others think we should do starts to sound like an excuse, a fear of judgment for taking action.

So what does it matter if we send someone an angry thought? Because it wears the sender down even more than the sendee. When every thought is what someone else would or shouldn’t do, we are blocking our own access to thinking positively about our own situations. We are dwelling in bad energy and blocking what we CAN do to encourage better social interactions, more peaceful solutions, more harmony, more love and joy. And this is a KITE to the Full Scorpio Moon– an opportunity to transform our emotions. We can let go of negativity and resentments. We don’t have to hold on to being offended, hurt, wrongly judged. We can bless it and let it go!

ArtCharts Chart Tips
Rulerships: connecting the dots
Many people tell me they understand the basics of chart reading. They understand what it means to have a planet in a sign and house. But putting it all together seems beyond reach. It’s not hard if you know a few techniques.

Rulerships establish connections between planets, signs, and houses in a chart.

These are the houses, signs, and planets that are most-closely connected.

  • 1st house - Aries - Mars
  • 2nd house - Taurus - Venus
  • 3rd Gemini - Mercury
  • 4th house - Cancer - Moon
  • 5th house - Leo - Sun
  • 6th house - Virgo - Mercury
  • 7th house - Libra - Venus
  • 8th house - Scorpio - Pluto (Mars)
  • 9th house - Sagittarius - Jupiter
  • 10th house - Capricorn - Saturn
  • 11th house Aquarius - Uranus (Saturn)
  • 12th house - Pisces - Neptune (Jupiter)

And click to see artcharts Rulership Chart online

Seeing a Sun in the 5th house in Leo tells you that’s a strong Sun. Taurus may not feel as much at home in the 11th house as it does in the 2nd. Planets located in houses or signs opposing their rulership positions are often in what is called a “debilitated” or poor condition and don’t express themselves as easily or naturally as planets and signs in rulership positions. More on elevated and debilitated planets to come…

The LifePath report is the only report that contains a section on house rulerships. It tells you where the ruler of each house is located in your chart and what that means. LifePath shows how the planets in your chart link to your houses, suggesting the kind of options you may have in your life.

In the Full Moon chart, Taurus is on the cusp of the 1st house, making Venus the ruler of the 1st house. Venus is in the 12th house, so the ruler of the 1st house, Venus, is actually located in the 12th house and according to LifePath Report it means that:

“Your outlook on life can be brought into balance by spending some time alone to meditate and recharge your batteries.
Avoid becoming your own adversary by falling into the “woe is me” victim trap. Spiritual philosophies that go beyond traditional orthodox viewpoints can bring revealing insights into your life and the meaning of it all.
You may identify somehow with large public institutions that provide a service to society, especially the helping professions.”

Spring Equinox + Full Moon in Libra

[Sun enters Aries: Spring Equinox on Thursday, March 20 @ 1:49 am edt]

[Full Moon in Libra-Aries on Friday, March 21 @ 2:40 pm est]
[Moon at 01'31" Libra : Sun at 01'31" Aries]

Spring Equinox is on March 20 @ 1:49 am edt. The Full Moon is on March 21 @ 2:40 pm edt.

Happy Spring!

No doubt about it. This is a tough moment. There is a lot going on, and not all of it feels good. Let’s look at the charts.

Spring is overnight Thursday, the Full Moon is Friday afternoon.

The Full Moon is in Libra, at 1 degree Libra 31 minutes, with the Sun opposing at 1 Aries 31. Pluto is square the Sun at 01 Capricorn, and Mars is opposing Pluto, also squaring the Sun-Moon opposition– and creating a Cardinal Grand Square conjunct the Aries point (0 degrees of the Cardinal signs) on Spring Equinox. This is GO time. But where?

You can be busy initiating projects and agendas, yet get nothing done. Or, you can feel so frustrated by all the things you “should” be doing, that your limiting beliefs keep you from doing anything and increasing feelings of frustration.

Or, you can take a breath, allow some calming awareness of the situation, and try to find a compromise.

The Moon in Libra is the star of the Full Moon, and the Sun in Aries (opposing) is the star of Spring Equinox. Mars and Venus, the planetary rulers of the Sun in Aries and Moon in LIbra, are making a trine aspect, while Venus is conjunct Mercury (for about 2 months) — discussion and negotiation CAN lead to a compromise.

So what’s the problem?

The Full Moon is squaring the current Mars-Pluto opposition increases this opposition’s influence. And since this occurs on Spring Equinox, it sets the tone for the season.

At Equinox, the Sun enters Aries. Aries is ruled by Mars. Mars is opposing Pluto and due to its recent Retrograde, this opposition has been in effect since Fall 2007. What is usually a transit that lasts a week or 2 lasted over 6 months.

At the Full Moon, the Sun and the Moon are square Pluto in early Capricorn, how do you pursue your goals? A Cardinal Grand Square including Mars opposing Pluto at Spring Equinox suggests personal agendas can be so compelling, we can justify using excessive force. Mars in early Cancer is defensive and protective, making it seem necessary to defend home and livelihood at any cost. Although the high-powered energy you may use to force issues and get your way can make you feel in control, results can be short-lived or not carried out.

Pluto square the Sun and Moon (at Equinox and Full Moon) can reveal tendencies that were well-hidden until recently. You may not see it in yourself. Current oppositions suggest you may see it more easily in others and point to them as “the problem,” overlooking your faults and undermining your contributions.

You may not be the one who overextends their power. Someone can push all your buttons, exposing raw emotions that you can usually keep a lid on. Good or bad is a value judgment. But withdrawing your participation due to possible judgments of others can prevent you from showing up or accomplishing something important. The more you can share without your ego needing to either be #1 or flip out, the more effortlessly you can feel and share your true essence.

The Sun, representing the essential self in the chart, is squaring both Pluto and Mars. Pluto is exalted in Aries and Mars rules Aries, so the intense challenges and emotions you may be facing now are about how much force you use when you feel resistance– and how quickly you use it. Victory by overreacting and threatening drama, humiliation, manipulation, or even violence, uses too much energy to be sustainable and creates more problems immediately. The friends or allies you make with threats may not be loyal or trustworthy.

How you approach life, moment-by-moment, is how life treats you back. The current trine from Venus to Mars shows that being more friendly to life can be your most effective strategy for peaceful solutions. If you can approach life and even conflict and remain open to compromise, you may even make some friends and achieve a peaceful agreement that is mutually beneficial. The more you force a situation by using threats of control, humiliation, and fear, the more resistance you are likely to encounter– especially this Spring. So if you are meeting continuous resistance during this Cardinal Grand Square, that’s a clue you are pushing so hard you are creating resistance to the very thing you want so much. Remember, the planetary oppositions are happening to create awareness and the awareness itself can change things, in an instant. NOW.

So what’s wrong with venting, complaining, and getting upset about bad things? Because how you react to what happens “out there” is a choice. Over reacting or not reacting due to fear or anger can build up tension in your body that becomes real. Getting caught up in intensifying drama to make a point can throw you out of the present moment and keep you stuck re-living the past or feeling apprehensive about the future. Either way, you’re not here NOW, which makes it hard to be effective and make helpful choices.

While this week’s Full Moon can be challenging, next Friday, March 28, Jupiter sextiles Uranus exactly, also Venus as she conjuncts Uranus. This is a great time to publicize, market, and expand your sphere of influence for fun, profit, and self-fulfillment.

Leo Full Moon: reversals

[Full Moon @ 01 Leo 54 on Tuesday, January 22 @ 8:35 am est]
[Pluto enters Capricorn on Friday, January 25 @ 11:35 pm est]
[Mercury stations Retrograde @ 23 Aquarius 53 - Monday, January 28 - Monday, February 18]
[Mars stations Direct @ 24 Gemini 05 on Wednesday, January 30 @ 5:33 pm est]

The energy of the Leo Full Moon is “reversal”. There’s a Full Moon (Moon opposes Sun and Moon) while Mercury stations Retrograde and Mars stations Direct.

Meanwhile, we just entered Aquarius, the New Year isn’t brand new anymore. So what happened to the excitement and resolutions that were going to make this a great year!?

The Leo Full Moon reminds us of love. And all love starts with self love.

Self love fills us with pride and gives us the WILLPOWER to push past obstacles and keep the faith that good things are going to happen. You can set and meet goals because you KNOW you are going to succeed.

But what happens when you don’t meet your goals or get what you want. And worse, when you don’t get what you KNOW you deserve. If your goals aren’t met quickly, relying only on WILLPOWER alone can start to get exhausting over time. And less productive. And now you have another goal that seems unattainable, another reason “it can’t work.”

This is reversal. It happens when your energy is literally running backwards through your meridians, causing you to achieve the OPPOSITE of what you thought you intended! And the harder you try, the farther you seem to get. Somehow, your subconscious is getting a message that is the OPPOSITE of what you want. There are several reasons this can happen. And there is NO blame because they are all subconscious and likely originate from incidents in the past. And they are being revealed (and hopefully healed) by the current Full Moon that occurs as Mercury stations Retrograde while Mars stations Direct.

Here’s the good news. The energy reversal that started during Mars Retrograde can get re-wired and re-connected while Mercury is Retrograde in Aquarius.

Your energy can get reversed when you are not really ready to achieve your goals. And there can be good reasons for hesitating or procrastinating. Succeeding at something can mean having to give up something else. And this can set off inner conflicts. Maybe you’re not ready to make a sacrifice, go the extra distance, make a change or a binding commitment– if it means giving up something that gives you comfort and makes you feel safe.

Since the New Year, like many of you, I’ve received countless emails promising me a new life if I sign up for a program, costing me $ per month. I’m sure many of these emails, pdfs, podcasts, books, eBooks, videos, DVDs, and teleseminars will get me motivated to achieve and succeed, but the sheer number of them is overwhelming. Yet, they have a timely message.

We are entering an era when more of us can learn how to succeed professionally, as long as we’re willing to concentrate and commit. This is the year of Jupiter in Capricorn, so we have an abundance of business gurus, wealth mentors, and life coaches to teach us the steps to success. It’s a growing field and will eventually bubble, although this year, telling people you can help them make big bucks can make YOU big bucks– if you’re truly an expert. If you’re not, Jupiter can help you expand your confidence, education, and professional reach until you become an expert.

Defining the cultural trends and limits are the “social planets” Jupiter and Saturn. They are currently trine, or capable of working harmoniously together. And the Jupiter-Saturn trine is also trine Asteroid Goddess Ceres, creating a Grand Trine in Earth. (Check out the inspiredastrology blog for the discussion on the Jupiter-Saturn-Ceres Earth Grand Trine.) If you have a goal in mind, but achieving it has started to seem unrealistic, you can start to feel like giving up is the only realistic thing to do. Still, that does NOT mean your goal is unattainable! But it may mean that manifesting it may be more complicated or challenging than you thought. And this can bring you face-to-face with inner blocks and conflicts that make you feel wrong or undeserving– just for having a goal. And if that’s true, no matter how well you hide it, that internal conflict will come up every time you think about your goal, making it hard to just get started. Your subconscious can find a way to sabotage every attempt you make to manifest your goals. It’s not out of cruelty, your subconscious is trying to give you more of what gives you energy. There is only one message you can give your subconscious to override its habitual beliefs. And that’s self-love– accepting and loving yourself no matter what happened in the past. We need to extend to ourselves the universal, unconditional love we would like to radiate and extend to others. And radiating love comes from connecting to your own inner source of love. We are kicking off a season of getting back to that source.

This (almost ending) Mars Retrograde included 2 oppositions to Pluto, with 1 more opposition to come after Mars starts moving forward (March 7 in Cancer). Your energy can get diverted or disrupted by holding on to resentment, feelings of betrayal and broken promises. Subconsciously, you may want to deny or punish someone for not living up to a promise or filling a need. Focusing on negative emotions is yet another way to divert energy and hold yourself back from achieving your goals. Letting go of the past, including past resentments, can mean changing. You may start to look and act differently, and that can seem false to your history, your identity. And what if you disappoint people who rely on you for being a certain way? This feeling that changing will disappoint others lowers and/or reverses your energy enough to lose any enthusiasm you start to build. Not only does this make it more challenging to do the things you want to do, it makes it very difficult to know and attract what you want. And you can easily sabotage anything you want, and blame someone else for the situation.

In general, when you blame or compare, your energy gets reversed, which means it runs backwards. And when your energy is reversed, you get the OPPOSITE results of what you say and think you want.

Perhaps it’s just mind over matter. But before assuming that, check out some scans of brains experiencing negative feelings, and those experiencing positive feelings. The brain produces chemicals than cause electric charges and chain reactions. Those chemical and electrical reactions continue to cause chain reactions of energy that move throughout the body, either carrying healing or toxic energy to every part of the body. Including the mind.

Blaming yourself can be an “automatic” or learned reaction, but it clouds your ability to see what’s really going on so you can react appropriately. This Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius is about taking the next step to greater awareness. And during the Leo Full Moon, that awareness needs to highlight the power of self-love to open your heart and accept yourself as you are. Even though you may feel anger, resentment, and a list of other negative emotions, you can still love and accept yourself. And at this Full Leo Moon with Mercury stationing Retrograde in Aquarius, feeling your self-love and acceptance will give your inner self the message that a positive change is possible. Sure, there are conflicts, but a solution is also possible! And– you can even re-wire your belief systems so negative feelings no longer have the hold over your future that they held in the past.

Getting angry at the person who made a mistake or disappointed you only serves to keep your energy in reverse. You can move forward anytime you take responsibility (power) for your choices. Knowing that, why isn’t it easy to change our habits and behavior? Maybe there are secondary benefits we get that we enjoy and are not ready or willing to give up ;-)

Whether or not we consciously realize it, we make choices all the time. Pluto in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn, INSISTS that we take responsibility for how we use our power to choose, which includes our money, individually and collectively. And if we don’t, Pluto in the sign of Saturn will make corrections. It’s already shown us this can and will happen. The more aware you can be of your choices, the more you can reclaim your personal, and financial power.

Before you blame and drain your energy, let Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius give you the time and opportunities to re-think your expectations. As Mercury stations Retrograde in Aquarius over the next few weeks, are your expectations realistic? Sustainable realism is important now as Jupiter and Pluto enter Earth-sign Capricorn and ruler Saturn trines them both from Virgo. Also, this Mercury Retrograde station is defined by the Mercury-Neptune conjunction (Jan 22, Feb 2, Mar 9), a time when ideas can filter into your consciousness from your subconscious. What happens if your expectations are not met to your satisfaction? What happen if they ARE? Are your expectations reasonable, sustainable? Are you demanding something from someone that you are capable of giving to yourself? If so, ask yourself why you think you need that other person to do it for you. This is yet another self-restricting attitude that blocks your flow of self-love and drains your energy. And disruption of energy blocks your happiness, which can lead to dis-ease, bad attitudes, lowered expectations, less energy, negative vibrations, and the inability to manifest your dreamlife. But you can manifest your joy and abundance when you feel connected to your essential self. And this Full Moon in Leo reminds us that love starts within and has the power to set us fre*e.

[ArtCharts] Inspired Astrology Newsletter: Full Moon&Winter Solstice edition: Happy Holidays!

_______________

Wishing you & yours a Happy Healthy & Abundant Holiday Season. May your lives be forever filled with blessings and joy.

At Winter Solstice, the Sun enters Capricorn. This is the time the Sun is at its most extreme Northern declination (which is the Tropic of Cancer). Western Astrology is based on the movement of the Sun and the Earth.

At every Winter Solstice, the Sun enters Capricorn. But this year, not only the Sun— Mercury and Jupiter are also entering Capricorn at Winter Solstice. And Pluto is in the last degrees of Sagittarius and will enter Capricorn on January 25, 2008. That is significant movement into Capricorn. And it is all being opposed by the Moon (it’s a Full Moon) and Mars. It’s not “just” Mars opposing Pluto on Christmas, it’s Mars opposing the entire stellium in Capricorn from December 24 through January 2.

Jupiter in Capricorn is a year of being concise. Make your check list and start working towards your goals. Jupiter shows what’s BIG, what people are interested in pursuing. In Capricorn, expect a rise in prosperity gurus and abundance counselors. Sure, they’re online and have many books already, but it’s about to explode. You can learn to create wealth and abundance, step by step. In 2008, effectively managing your business for profitable returns will be TOP priority.

It’s the very end of 2007. 2008 is approaching quickly. This is the time of year to reflect on the past year and set your intentions for next year. With so many planets in EARTH signs, it’s time to manifest. And to manifest, you have to get practical and professional, or you may get left in the dust (dispersed earth). What are you going to do to create a better life in 2008?

2008 is NOT the year to drift and “hope for the best.” If that’s your plan, you may wind up broke and even farther from your dreams. This IS the year to take INSPIRED ACTION!

2008 can be your biggest year of manifestation. But you have to TAKE ACTION. You have to set your intentions and ACT. Just thinking good thoughts is a great start, but it will not change anything unless you ACT on your good thoughts.

Mars, planet of ACTION, is conjunct the MOON at the FULL MOON. And together, the Moon and Mars oppose the entire stellium of planets just entering Capricorn. Not only is Mars conjunct the Moon and opposing most of the other planets, Mars is currently Retrograde in early Cancer (headed back into Gemini on January 8). How is your ego holding back your progress. How can you challenge yourself in ways that will insure your growth instead of getting stuck in fears, anxiety, anger, and hostile thoughts?

Cancer (Mars and the Moon are in Cancer, the Moon rules Cancer), the clue is to stop engaging your emotional stories because they are keeping you from fulfilling your dreams. Enjoy your ego, but don’t let it rule your life. If your ego RULES your life, you won’t do anything because, oh my goodness, someone may not approve. You may look silly or stupid. And it’s true. The more you do, the greater the chances that you might make a mistake. People WILL think you’re nuts, or greedy, or wrong. They WILL judge you. But if you let their judgments (egos) win, you don’t get your work done. And that’s not really a problem either, because no one ever gets everything done! We are all a work-in-progress. With Mars opposing Pluto, Jupiter, and the Sun, you can SEE how you give your power away to protect yourself. Being defensive can seem “only natural.” Yet, it is what keeps you separated from living your true purpose and highest abundance. If you want to reclaim your energy and get going, it’s time to think beyond the usual deeply rutted pathways. It’s time to extend gratitude instead of fear and anger.

The point is not to focus on your enemies or detrators until you feel defensive and withdrawn (all possible with Mars Retrograde in Cancer). The point is to feel your GRATITUDE for the people who validate and encourage you. Focus on the people you CAN serve, the people who DO support and honor you, the people you CAN interact with, the people who make you feel good about yourself and positive about what you can accomplish. We all have detractors. Yet, focusing on them, living your life to try and please them, will keep you feeling agitated and too distracted to focus on your goals. And in 2008, your goals may be your most important consideration.

Full Moon rising

The Full Moon is Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 8:19 pm est; 5:18 pm pst

Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon oppose.

The Full Moon is in Cancer, opposing the Sun in Capricorn.
[Moon at 1 Cancer 50; Sun at 1 Capricorn 50]

It is in the very beginning of CARDINAL signs. This FULL MOON is time to take initiative– in a practical, responsible way.

At the light of this Full Moon, you can see clearly how reacting emotionally or taking things personally can cloud your judgment, make you feel defensive and lose energy. While going with the flow can bring positive rewards in the near future as your energy catches up with your growing to-do list.

Best wishes for a WONDERfilled Solstice,
Lauren

Gemini SUPER Full Moon and Uranus stations Direct: stretch your mind

Happy Full Moon in Gemini!

This isn’t just another Full Moon, this is a SUPER Full Moon.

SUPER Full Moons occur when the Moon is closest in orbit to the Earth (perigee). This makes the Moon appear larger than a normal Full Moon. Tides are higher at all New and Full Moon, but at a SUPER Full Moon, high tides are stepped up. Effects can include stronger tides, more intense weather, earthquakes, tidal waves, and other meterological and geophysical disturbances. A Super Full Moon also draws our personal emotions to the surface. Instead of being hidden, events can occur that bring your feelings out in the open.

The Sun entered Sagittarius on Thanksgiving Day. As the Sun moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius and the greenery shrinks back into the Earth, you realize how often you hide in your “shadow” self. And this awareness helps you to see the shadow for whatever it is. And then you can let it go. And as you release the hidden fear that has become a burden, you can start to feel lighter, more lively and happy as the Sun enters Sagittarius.

When the Sun and Moon oppose in early Sagittarius-Gemini [Sun at 1 Sagittarius 55; Moon at 1 Gemini 55] they are squared by the Lunar Nodes [North Node is at 2 Pisces 27; the South Node is at 2 Virgo 27].

The Lunar Nodes are points, not actual planets. As such, some astrologers include them in aspect patterns, and some do not. Yet, the Lunar Nodes square the Sun-Moon opposition, creating a MUTABLE Grand Square..

This can be a time of accelerated learning– or it can become information overload. You can find workshops, seminars, teleseminars, webinars, eclasses, webclasses, blogs, newsgroups, and mentorships where you can learn more about anything. And with so many choices and information, you can learn for entertainment or you can make a commitment and set clear goals.

If you have clear goals, you can find information that can expand your range of knowledge and professional skills. The next step in your education — whether it’s a book, class, teacher, or degree — can become apparent around the Gemini Super Full Moon. “When the pupil is ready the teacher will appear” is an image for this Full Moon. Or, if your criteria is that information must be fre*e, you can access more information than you can read, most of it giving you a piece of the puzzle while advertising a product that will actually give you the answers you hoped to find.

In the last newsletter i said “if there is no way to vent emotions, they can come unglued at the wrong time, and with tidal-wave force.” At the Super Full Moon, not only Mars but the Moon is out-of-bounds (OOB) by declination, and at perigee (closest to the Earth), and square the Lunar Nodes. There can be an aggressive edge to emotions that is out of normal bounds. And unless you can catch an impulse before it becomes an action, you can act in ways that are out of character or beyond the bound of “normal”.

This is about learning to speak your mind in a way that CONNECTS positively to others. What DO you think? What IS your opinion? What ARE your goals? Write them down. Speak to someone who can really help you get clear and grounded, not just someone who will agree and circulate your story as more gossip.

The ruler of the Gemini Full Moon is Mercury. And Mercury is in Scorpio– whatever is lurking below the surface is what is interfering in your ability to communicate, or truly CONNECT. Are you connecting with the real you, or with a pretend you— and wondering why you’re not really connecting? This can be subtle and subconscious. And there’s NO BLAME! If you are secretly angry, resentful, panicked, hurt, anxious, scared, it’s a sign that you need to communicate your feelings if you want them to change. OR– they can fester and limit your progress, do you harm. Not only today or next week, but slowly, over time.

The ruler of the Gemini Full Moon, Mercury, is part of a (separating) WATER Grand Trine that includes Mercury-Mars-Uranus. And this astrological pattern can make us feel like we “should” be in a hurry, that we don’t have time to stop, reflect, meditate, think. We can have or create additional busywork and get obsessed in the details. We have a hard time just being still enough to know the next step. We can’t tolerate temporary indecision or confusion, so we can’t be open to our possibilities. When you’re busy all the time, you don’t have to listen to your intuition before you JUMP into the next project that is not really YOUR path.

At this Super Full Moon squares the Nodes, we have yet another Mutable Grand Square. What patterns do you repeat, over and over, because you think it’s your role, job, archetype. We don’t only get stuck in roles, we get stuck thinking we “should” do something other than what we feel is our path. The strong MUTABLE influence of the Full Moon chart shows that moving forward is not necessarily a straight path. We may need to make adjustments and be flexible if and when situations change. Yet, this can feel ungrounded, which can make you feel unstable and anxious.

The light of this Super Full Moon can show us what happens when our emotions are dependent on the moods and thoughts of others. It’s like having an immune-system leak in your emotional body; you never feel fully energized and happy. Focusing YOUR attention on watching for any changes in others doesn’t give you peace-of-mind to focus on much for long, so you fly from this to that, unable to concentrate or stick with anything. After all, you have to keep an eye on THEM so you can stay a step ahead. But in keeping your eye on THEM, you aren’t making a commitment to yourself, so it’s hard to find the right commitment to make, or the time to make it and keep it going. And it’s really because you don’t want to take your focus off the action.

Instead of feeling supported by your friends and family, your need to anticipate their every need, emotion, craving, or mood can leave you feeling exhausted, alienated, and unsupported. Yet, it was your “choice” (or early training) to anticipate any fluctuations in the moods of those around you. And that takes constant monitoring, or attention.

To have healthy relationships– with yourself and others— you need to more than talk, you need to LISTEN. If you are not getting honest guidance or feedback, perhaps you are so busy anticipating, you are not willing to listen.

The point in SEEING your imbalances is NOT to guilt-trip yourself or feel bad or alienated or wrong. The point is to USE the information being revealed so you know what you DO and DO NOT want. Pick and choose– and then commit.

There are some spots around the world where the Full Moon effects are likely to be stronger. SUPER Full Moon effects can be from 3 days before to 3 days after the Full Moon is exact. In the US, the east coast may experience a Nor-easter, or some extreme weather coming up the coast. Las Vegas sits in a very hot spot, as does Rio de Janiero and Tokyo.

The Full Moon in Taurus: embracing your power

This is a special Full Moon. There is an astrological pattern, called the Grand Sextile, which is made of 2 Grand Trines, forming a Star of David. This means that 6 planets are joined by sextiles. It’s important to note that this Grand Sextile includes the Nodes and Vesta, an Asteroid: women are part of the equation.

[Grand Sextile: Moon sextiles NorthNode-Pallas sextiles Vesta sextiles Sun sextiles Saturn-SouthNode sextiles Mars sextiles Moon] [Water Grand Trine: Sun trines Mars trines North Node] [Earth Grand Trine: Moon trines Vesta trines Saturn-South Node]

On this Taurus Full Moon you can find ways to package and present your talent so you can reap the rewards of your sincere, creative efforts. If you benefit people and perform a useful service, you may receive not only good wishes, but the realistic support it takes to keep doing it. Building anything worthwhile takes support. It’s not enough to express your talents. If you want to keep doing it, you need material returns as well.

Every Star of David contains 3 oppositions. The Sun opposes the Moon, the North Node opposes Saturn and the South Node, Vesta opposes Mars. And besides the Star of David, there is a Venus-Uranus opposition. This is a time of increased social change and awareness, and it may come at a time that you are feeling more private and security-conscious than open and resilient, making it more challenging to enjoy the outside world. This balance is between your spiritual or personal development AND your very real physical needs here and now.

The Earth Grand Trine — including the Taurus Full Moon — can make you comfortable and secure in your current status quo. The Water Grand Trine — including the Sun — can increase your sensitivity, making you less interested in venturing beyond your comfort zone.

Grand Trines in astrology point to how we create comfortable patterns that keep us going around in endless circles. What patterns do you build? What masks do you wear to protect yourself from others? What defenses have you built to stay safe and not get hurt, again. Perhaps instead of building walls, you can break down the negative emotions that your wall is made of. Acting out your negative emotions keeps the cycle going, as you feel guilty, make others feel awful, so you feel guilty, and on it goes. The barricades grow and become entrenched. There are other ways!

Happy Halloween
Halloween is the time you can see through the veil, or shadow, to gain a greater understanding of what keeps you in a self-sabotaging pattern. All self-sabotage comes from unacknowledged shame. You may ACT and TALK like you’re secure and in control, but if you’re not really sure deep inside, over time this builds toxic emotions like resentment, anger, jealousy.

Scorpio is a symbol for release, recycling, and rebirth. How do you keep your angry feelings alive? What stories do you tell yourself to prove that your anger is justified? Do you disown what you don’t like about yourself and pin it on someone else?

Every Full Moon brings greater awareness, and during a Taurus-Scorpio Full Moon we can become more aware of how we project whatever we don’t like about ourselves onto others. This may seem like a strategy, yet it leaves ourSelves with big missing pieces. We’re not our authentic selves so we don’t “blow our cover.” But by staying safe, we are not taking our power. Then we feel justified resenting those who DO take their power, especially if you can detect something to criticize so you can keep the cycle going. But one insight can change that!

When the veil is thin, we can also HEAR our inner voice. What is it telling you? Do you contradict your own fulfillment by wanting something one moment and thinking you’re “not good enough” or unworthy the next? As soon as you want something, the next thought is all the REAL reasons it’s impossible. This gives your subconscious mixed messages. It keeps you in a state of contradiction, or stuck.

Instead of holding down our shadow selves (which takes ENERGY), you can let it go, release toxic emotions in SAFE ways that won’t hurt yourself or others. Looking honestly at yourself is NOT required, but NOT looking at your shadow because you’re a “good” person who has no faults, is more than likely to keep you in conflict and stuck where you are. You can’t “just be different” if you keep thinking and doing the same thing. And you can’t think differently if you deny what you’re feeling. Listening to your inner voice is the first step to take back your power.

If you are “grounded” or centered in your body, you can use your creativity to rise above a difficult situation. What keeps you from feeling grounded? Not listening to your body. Not even being aware of what you body needs or wants. To get back in touch, you can: drink water (staying hydrated keeps your body chemistry working), exercise, take a walk outside, be close to nature (wherever that is for you), notice your environment, massage your feet, clear your clutter, get your paperwork organized, eat good food, get into some comfy clothing, and hug someone you love.

Trick o’ Treat
When the veil is the thinnest, we have access to our ancestors– just to visit. The treats you give the trick o’ treaters are symbolic treats that honor your ancestors.

Mercury is currently Retrograde in Libra and will station Direct in Libra (23 Libra 22) on All Saints Day, November 1. Libra is ruled by Venus and Venus is in Mercury-ruled Virgo. This means Mercury and Venus are in mutual reception, or able to “stand in” or replace each other. This gives them a special relationship where they function as a unit. Before you can get closer, you have to get clear so you’re not projecting your shadow onto others, even deceased ancestors, and burdening not only them, but yourself.

Mercury will trine Mars again (on Nov 19), while both Mercury and Mars remain sextile to Saturn (Mercury/Mars=Saturn, which puts Saturn at the midpoint of Mercury/Mars). This extra long Mercury-Mars trine (which usually last a day) is in effect through November 19. And it’s not over then.

Mars and Saturn are both stationing and hardly moving (Mars stations Rx on November 15, Saturn stations Retrograde on December 19), which continues their sextile relationship (October 8, December 9, March 14). This can be an extended opportunity to use your mental energy to get clear about what you want, focus on it, and make it happen. Saturn restricts, and many astrologers see this prolonged sextile that includes the South Node as a sign of difficult times ahead. Combine this with Mars being out-of-bounds by declination all winter (through late April 200 8) and any tense situation can HEAT up to OVERBOIL, whether it’s physical (which is possible in Virgo), geographic (also possible since Virgo is an Earth element sign), social, or political. Out-of-bounds planets can swing to extremes, so it can be TOO HOT one minute and you can feel an energy drain the next, especially while Mars is Retrograde (November 15 - January 30, 2008).

Positively, the prolonged Mars-Saturn sextile can show you what you DON’T want, which can make it easier to realize and focus on what you do WANT. If information clutter doesn’t give you time to focus on anything, your anxiety can overwhelm your energy and you can feel more frustrated and restricted than informed. Focus is essential to keep your mind on your goals.

Full Moon Awareness

The Full Moon is approaching and weather permitting, will be quite a show as the moon rises this evening.

Since i see astrology as energy, i have a few comments on the current state of energy.

Mars, the energy planet, is square Saturn, the cautious planet. This is a time when everything seems to get in your way of success. You may have spent considerable time and energy trying to make something criticism-proof, yet the responses you receive can be frustrating, non-existent, or even resentful.

Insisting that everything works according to your plan or schedule can create a one-way energy system. And the problem with that is that the energy cannot renew itself. It’s a dead end. So you do a lot, but then the energy dries up and you wonder, why? what happened? Things may have seemed to be going great, but they were just going your way, and/or you did not create a path for the energy to flow back; receiving energy seems to be blocked or slowed way down.

How can you make this time less frustrating and more productive? Patience! And build a path for the energy to return. Let yourself receive positive energy, don’t block it by feeling the frustration or thinking there’s never enough. That’s the old scare-city mentality. There IS enough, but you may need to accept building patiently now if you want to continue to be productive.

with Love&Light,
Lauren
