The New in Taurus on Monday, May 5

Every New Moon is a time for new beginnings. The Taurus New Moon comes at planting time, making it the true seed time for the entire year. This is the time to sow your seeds, in the Earth and in people and projects you hope will bear fruit.

If you’ve been following these newsletters or astrology in general, you may remember that the day after Spring Equinox there was a Full Moon in at 1 degree Libra-Aries. The start of all the Cardinal signs - Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn — are gateways or points of action, called the Cardinal or Aries point in astrology. This New Moon again activates the Aries point. It may NOT seem obvious that 15 degrees of Taurus has anything in common an Aries Point, yet 15 degrees of the FIXED signs (and 7.5 of the Mutable) is equal to 0 degree of Cardinal Signs (using the 45 degree chart or the 8th harmonic). And this connection is further supported by the sesquisquare of the Sun and Moon to Pluto at 0 Capricorn, an Aries Point. Any planet conjunct an Aries or Cardinal Point promises active manifestation. And in Taurus, this promises to be an actively manifesting New Moon.

So what will manifest and how do we plant seeds that will manifest what we want?

We take the bull by the horns.

Taurus, symbolized by the Bull, is about self-worth. By taking the bull by the horns, we take control of our self-worth. The Bull represents Taurus because bulls are strong and stubborn, just the energy needed to build anything real and lasting. And while the fixed quality of Taurus can focus all our energy on amassing more things to make us feel more secure, there is more to Taurus than getting more stuff. The Bull plows the land, literally building the Earth for planting, growth, and eventually harvest. How can we plan and build our own lives for an abundant harvest?

In our modern culture, “the bull” are the stories we tell, the excuses about why we can’t do this or that, how we’re not good enough, or that we’re really better than everyone, if only we had the chance to show it. These stories reveal the true state of our self-worth. Our inner negativity that pops up, telling us to stop, slow down, or just quit.

Taurus is usually thought of as money and things. But it’s really about values, starting with self-worth. As a culture, we equate Taurus with money because money is something most of us agree to value. What do you value? To attract the things you want, you have to start by valuing yourself. How much do you value your Self? In Taurus, we can learn to appreciate ourselves and treat ourselves like gold.

What stops us from thinking of ourselves and treating ourselves like we are worthy? And how does that effect our wealth on every level, including our bank accounts?

At the New Moon, the Sun and Moon are sesquisquare Pluto. [Sesquisquare or sesquiquadrate is 135 degrees, a degree of manifestation, like an 1/8th note; Further, Pluto is at 0 Capricorn which is sesquisquare the Sun and Moon. This puts the Sun, Moon, and Pluto at the Aries point or Cardinal (they are conjunct in the 8th harmonic chart).] This brings hidden emotional issues into play. Power plays can be unconscious and emotionally driven. Underlying attitudes can be brought to the surface. But– instead of it being an opportunity to get angry and give someone a piece of your mind, this can be an opportunity to get beyond issues motivated by ego competition and allow yourself to trust. What if the goal isn’t to be right or win all, but to find a way to live and work productively together?

We don’t have to keep believing the same stories about ourselves, accepting the same excuses for why our lives never change, why we don’t share the gifts we KNOW we have inside. The fears that come up and tell us “we’re not all that” keep many of us from doing anything besides the essentials. What if we did something and made a mistake? Can we can still love and accept ourselves? Can you truly say you have never made a mistake? The truth is, we all make mistakes. Yet, it’s hard to admit, especially if we’re shamed-based. Do you really believe you are just nothing much and that’s all you have to look forward to? That’s a belief that can keep you sabotaging every effort you make to change– and automatically spreading negativity to anyone who tries to share, including close friends and family.

But what if our sabotaging acts are just a process to make ourselves better in every way.

Why do we feel the need to sabotage and self-limit?

Perhaps we have inner conflicts we need to heal before we can feel good about ourselves and ready to share. Yet, keeping all your talent and potential inside because there’s a chance you can make a mistake or not know enough, keeps you stuck, and feeling bad, negative, dis-eased. To grow, we need to share our energy, to put what’s inside “out there”. Keeping it all inside because of what you think you’re supposed to believe about yourself, can not only prevent you from reaching your personal and professional potential, it can prevent you from accessing your own most helpful resource, your own inner source of intuition and creativity. And this dis-connect breeds negativity, resentment, hatred.

The New Moon is in Earth-sign Taurus. While the Grand Trines are separating, Saturn and Pluto are still trine in Earth signs. This is a time of structure. Of working within a structure. Every day you need to find a way to love yourself. What you hate prevents you from loving, and you can only stop hating by staying focused on the love and sharing. And that needs to be something you can do daily because practice makes everything more familiar and comfortable. Complaining and commiserating with friends can be a release. But it may not change your life. Even if it seems to make you a little less stressed in the short-run, Taurus is about the long-run.

To stay aligned astrologically, there’s more about current transits EVERY DAY on the [ArtCharts] InspiredAstrologyWeblog!

New Moon in Aries: amplified

New Moon in Aries [Saturday, April 5 @ 11:55:11 pm edt]

The New Moon in Aries is just before midnight on Saturday, April 5.

Aries is ruled by planet Mars. To understand the influence of this New Moon, we need to look at Mars.

Mars is in Cancer. Mars is currently square the Sun-Moon and approaching an opposition to Jupiter. The Mars-Jupiter opposition square the New Moon creates a Cardinal T-Square.

Basic Theme: turn it up!

This New Moon’s theme is amplified action. Turn up the volume! Step up the pace. This New Moon gives you the “warrior spirit”. You can feel determined to be creative, to effortlessly push beyond previous limits. You have the courage of your convictions, and you’re willing to try a little harder, whether you win all or come off as the fool. You can feel energized to start things you’ve put off, yet you can also become impatient if the pace doesn’t match your passion.

Don’t trespass on me: Moon and Mars

In the New Moon chart, the Moon and Mars are square AND in mutual reception (in each other’s signs). You can easily feel that you best efforts are never enough– and/or that the efforts of others are indecisive at best. Either way can be frustrating and stress-inducing. And this can give you headaches, stomach aches, fevers, inflammations, and even cause accidents. Taking things too personally or blaming others for being too slow or passive can increase your tension. The feeling that everything is your concern can make you appear defensive or intrusive, and you may need to be careful about where you make yourself at home.

Mars, Jupiter, Sun & Moon create a t-square

As a “spirit warrior” this is the time to learn, practice, and use anger/stress management skills.

If you KNOW you are working for The Truth, Mars-Jupiter can help you work effortlessly towards greater happiness and abundance in April. You don’t have to chase success. You can attract success TO you when you balance your eagerness with trust that your wishes will be answered.

Mars is approaching an opposition to Jupiter (exact April 24).
The Sun and Mars were exactly square on March 30, and the New Moon continues the Sun-Mars influence. The Sun will square Jupiter (April 10) and Mars will oppose Jupiter in Capricorn (on April 24). This creates a pattern called a T-Square, Cardinal because it is in the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, and Capricorn.

The Cardinal T-Square is a call to action. Feeling more adventurous and willing to take bigger risks, you may have the burning desire to get yourself “out there.” It’s a great time to learn assertiveness training so you can present your good ideas clearly, fairly— and with enthusiasm. Problems can arise when you give over your thinking to someone else who seems to have more confidence or authority. Is their grass really greener? If you think it is, you may be willing to drop everything and run!

Since this is fast-paced productive energy, positive encouragement can keep you moving forward. Angry words and thoughts can also be productive and reach their target with immediate impact. What causes a great deal of anger, in yourself and others, is telling people what they “should” do and not slowing down to listen. This gives the message that their values and needs should be the same as yours. This can inspire more anger and mistrust than energy and enthusiasm. And that can sabotage what could be fast progress and make you feel more alienated than successful. Extending faith and acceptance in others can add to your productive energy.

As energy builds up, you can feel more hurried, excited, sensitive, and impatient. Moving faster can make everyone more insensitive as we all push harder, reach farther, sometimes too far too fast, and seemingly small irritations can start to accumulate. So to release some of the extra tension while maintaining your momentum, you will need to stay present and not exaggerate. Success may require more awareness of your priorities. Then you can plan your time to reflect your priorities.

Venus joins in

Venus is quickly approaching a time of stronger influence as she enters (Mars-ruled) Aries and squares Pluto exactly 23 hours and 50 minutes after the New Moon is exact. Venus in Mars-ruled Aries and square Pluto, exalted in Aries and with a strong Mars connection, can make this Venus square Pluto into a serious transit. Something intended to be innocent can release emotions long thought to be over and done. It can be tempting to blame whoever inspires your passions, yet this can backfire. The square to Pluto reminds us to be especially sensitive to the deep feelings of others because flaming old wounds can be easy now. If feelings of jealousy or resentment come up, instead of going to extremes and getting dramatic, this is a good time to work on what was unconscious and is now conscious.

Grand Trines coming

People have been asking about the Grand Trine in April. It starts with a quick-moving Grand Trine in Earth including the Moon in Taurus on Sunday, April 6. There are more Grand Trines as the inner planets enter Taurus through early May.

On Sunday, the Moon in Taurus will trine Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Virgo. While the Saturn-Pluto trine is long-term, Sunday’s Grand Trine is quick-moving because the Moon moves ~ 13 degrees per day. So it will only be in effect on Sunday, April 6. As the inner planets move into Taurus, starting with Mercury on April 17, Sun April 19, and Venus in early May, they will all take their turns as part of the Earth Grand Trine.

The Earth Grand Trine with Saturn-Pluto shows the great depth of focus and concentration that is possible when you are motivated. The Moon in Taurus suggests that the motivation can start with material needs or possessions. This doesn’t have to be bling, especially since Saturn is involved. This is more about carefully choosing investments and tools that will help you earn more income, slowly and steadily building more support and thereby more wealth. During this Grand Trine, you may be able to attract money and power– and keep it with good planning and management.

More about Mercury, Sun, and Venus in the next Newsletter and on the blog.

Interesting note about Juno

Juno, the Asteroid goddess of relationships, is at 29′10″ Sagittarius, seemingly about to enter Capricorn and close to a conjunction with Pluto. However, Juno will station Retrograde April 18 (Pluto stationed Retrograde, April 2) and while they will continue to travel together, they won’t actually conjunct until they both station Direct and Juno is exactly where she is at this New Moon, 29′10″ Sagittarius on October 30. (While Juno is considered to represent committed relationships, this astrologer sees Juno more as the “other” person, someone involved from outside the committed relationship, check your charts!)

Regardless of the status of a relationship, Juno traveling with Pluto this year suggests that partnerships can be a path to both deeper, more intimate unions and personal awareness. This is the year to transform yourself through your ability to relate on a more intimate level. If tensions come up, think of it as a clue to uncover hidden problems that have come to conscious awareness to be understood, resolved, and released. This can clear the way for deeper love and admiration of someone you love.

Aquarius New Moon+Solar Eclipse: backwards or forwards?

[New Moon+Solar Eclipse @ on Wednesday, February 6 @ 10:45 pm est]

On this Solar Eclipse and New Moon in Aquarius that is also Ash Wednesday, the Chinese Lunar New Year of the industrious Rat, and the day after Fat and Super Tuesday, the question is: are you going backwards or forwards? Because you can’t stay here.

The seed is planted. How it grows depends on your focus. If you KNOW it will grow, your focus is on growing. If you’re not sure, your focus is not strong and it may not grow.

How do we maintain our focus? Especially with SO MUCH information at our fingertips?

The Solar Eclipse is conjunct Mercury (and in the Mercury decanate of Aquarius), so there is a focus on new ideas and communication. Yet, due to the Eclipse, actually connecting can be cut off before it begins. You may want to communicate, but there are just too many things going on to maintain the focus.

Aquarius is a thinking sign that is more abstract than practical. We can care about what happens to society, but it can be difficult to feel for individuals. During Aquarius, we can be more excited about sharing information than acquiring more things. In fact, Aquarius prefers that you streamline your lifestyle. Aquarius remembers that all that stuff needs maintenance, which leads to more stuff.

Backwards OR forwards can be an appropriate response at time of transition. Aquarius is the sign of change and there is a stellium (3 planets of more) in Aquarius — Chiron, Mercury, Sun, Moon, Neptune, Vesta, and North Node). Mercury is Retrograde in Aquarius and conjunct the New Moon/Eclipse– AND — and this is the key to unlock the potential of the Eclipse — the Sun-Moon-Mercury conjunction is at the Venus-Uranus midpoint (Venus and Uranus are also sextile!) AND Uranus rules the Aquarius Solar Eclipse. This Eclipse can be a wide-open window of intuition — if you’re open to love and not shut down by fear and suspicion. It’s time to re-connect with the Age of Aquarius. It’s not just a song from the 60s, it’s a transition we are living through right now as we slowly move from the age of Pisces into Aquarius.

Yet transitions are transitions because they are periods of time when going back no longer works, but the future is not clear either. So you keep going back and forth until a path becomes more clear. Yet, it is by accepting this unclear period of unknown possibilities that we can be open to change, make unexpected progress, and wind up manifesting even more than our wildest imagination could have dreamed for us!

From the Sun’s perspective (Heliocentric astrology), there are no retrogrades. Retrogrades are optical illusions from the Earth’s perspective. Only the planets make retrograde stations, the Sun and the Moon are never retrograde. And on a soul, or solar level, there is no going backwards. Despite the labeling or judgments of society, you are always progressing towards your highest spiritual evolution. Even if– from the perspective of others on Earth, you seem to be going backwards. And at this Aquarius Eclipse, it is time for the entire society to start moving forward.

Since the Solar Eclipse in Aquarius is conjunct Mercury Retrograde, and the Eclipse is in the Mercury-ruled decanate of Aquarius (the Gemini decanate of Aquarius, degrees 10-20), this is an opportunity to change the way you think. If we become what we think, this Solar Eclipse contains the potential to become more aware of how we think so we can change the way we think and thereby the way we experience life. As we start to appreciate our Selves and the gifts we are here to learn and share, we can become fulfilled and functional contributors to the greater social network.

Aquarius is the sign of groups. Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius is the time to take another look at group dynamics. How do you participate? Do you show up? Do you share? Do you listen? Do others listen to you? Is the information you’re sharing true, caring, kind, necessary? Many of us get stressed listening to different opinions and insert our opinions at every opportunity. Are you constantly trying to get your plug in, or are you really listening and responding to what the others are saying? Not listening is a way to (attempt to) control others and assert your own ego. It’s really from the fear that you will be overtaken if you listen. Or that you will be drained, so you keep talking to prevent others from getting a word in. Yet, this makes working in a group situation into a constant conflict instead of an opportunity to find mutual solutions to large-scale problems.

The connection of Venus-Uranus to the Sun-Moon-Mercury conjunction highlights the theme of compassionate detachment. Caring but not clinging. The feeling we need to fix each other leads to attachment, judgment, and remaining stuck. What if you could care, yet maintain a healthy boundary between you and your friends? This Solar Eclipse/New Moon shows a strong connection between friends and security. Friends and group participation can give us a feeling of security. Sometimes, trying to step in and fix “it” denies the other person access to their own inner resources. So you spend you time feeling overwhelmed by their dilemmas, while they continue to have their ongoing dilemmas and every perspective or solution you offer is wrong. Since you can’t force others to change or feel good, all that really matters is that you feel clear.

What can you DO to create change. First in your own life. Then in the community. This Eclipse is an opportunity to walk into the future. Instead of remaining fixed in the past– take a plunge into NOW. How can you join with others to create a spiritual awakening? This Eclipse is a call to take notice of the Earth– as a group. We may need to sacrifice some material luxury for the well-being of our planet. And this can be a deal breaker for many of us who think we can only take because we don’t realize the valuable gifts we have to share. So on this Eclipse, it is uncertain which direction we will pick, old and seemingly safe. Or the new paradigm and uncertainty as we forge a new group spirituality. Surely an appropriate question for Aquarius.

[ArtCharts] Inspired Astrology Newsletter: Capricorn New Moon

_______________

Wishing you & yours a Happy Healthy & Abundant New Year. May your lives be forever filled with blessings and joy.

Capricorn New Moon: make something of yourself!

[New Moon at 17 Capricorn 44 on Tuesday, January 8 at 6:37 am est]

The New Moon in Capricorn is a yearly opportunity to jumpstart your career, but this year, there are opportunities to takeoff.

2008 can be your biggest year of manifestation yet! But you have to TAKE ACTION. You have to set your intentions and act. Thinking good thoughts is a great start, but it will not change anything unless you ACT on your good thoughts.

Right before the New Moon, Uranus sextiles both Sun and Moon: YOU count. YOUR view of life is important. Only you can bring your brand of creativity and originality to the rest of the world. This isn’t impulsive or get-rich-quick energy. This is time to make a realistic plan and follow it. This is about finding the discipline within to achieve your goals without, step by step.

The question may be: to be professional. Or not. This can be a big decision right now. Instead of being frustrated at your progress, or lack of it, what can you DO about making changes? Yes, it’s time to be you, let yourself shine. But how? What are you going to say, do, market, sell in your unique, original way? Do you need more education, information, coaching?

Besides the Sun and the Moon, Jupiter recently entered Capricorn, and Pluto will enter Capricorn on January 25 (and will be in Capricorn until 2023). This is passion for profession!

If you have a talent that you’d like to develop, or there is a profession you can clearly see yourself doing, it’s time to make plans to do it. If there are people doing something you would like to do, being jealous or competitive will waste a good idea and productive energy. Instead, observe what they do and how they do it. How did they get there? What do they do that attracts you? Model yourself after them. With or without money, there are many ways to get started. The commitment comes first, then the steps will start to fall into place. And the New Moon in Capricorn is the perfect time to set professional intentions for 2008 and beyond.

Being a professional means making a conscious commitment. At the New Moon, the Sun and Moon are at the midpoint of Mercury and Jupiter [Sun,Moon=Mercury/Jupiter]. And the New Moon’s ruler, Saturn, is approaching a trine to think-big Jupiter (January 21) with Pluto slowly approaching. You can empower your routines and give them new meaning. It’s time to mentor and be mentored. Coach and be coached. Teach and learn. If there is something you KNOW you could be, why not take a course? Or at least a workshop. If you are drawn to a teacher or something to learn, that is a clear sign to proceed and learn more. Don’t get jealous, get busy!

And if you’re already a professional, get serious about the structure of our business. What happens when are successful, and you have to pay taxes, buy equipment, hire people, buy more services! This also needs careful planning.

Mars planet of action is still Retrograde AND opposing Pluto (and when Mars stations direct and starts moving forward, Mars and Pluto will again oppose, at 0 Cancer-Capricorn on March 7). This shows one thing clearly– if you let negative emotions rule your life– if you respond to taunting– your ego will steer your ship. And when ego is steering, your options start to diminish and your vibrations slow down, helping to make negative prophecies come true and increasing the potential for self-sabotage. Here’s the flippy thing about free will and destiny. When we have options, and we don’t take them, the default mode, or destiny, takes over. If you wait until there’s a crisis, you are already in destiny mode. Replacing jealousy with gratitude can work miracles to open the doors to the life you could be living, while (ego-inspired) jealousy can shut them down. And even if you DO have lots of things and money, negative emotions and comparisons make it very difficult to enjoy what you accomplish, while positive vibrations empower you. Children, home, cars, are all meaningless if you’re in a perpetual bad state of mind. And you can change all that, quickly, just by letting your higher self take control instead of giving it all to your ego.

If your emotions are tied to your progress, it could be time to remove your ego from final say on all decision-making (while Mars is Rx in Gemini and before it re-enters Cancer on March 4). You don’t have to know it all already. There is always a more to learn, and as you learn, you can teach others. Sitting in a classroom again can be a refreshing experience, and learning something new is always exhilarating, at any age.

If you’re serious about attracting success and abundance, you will appreciate the value of learning. Learning helps you to vibrate higher. And that is how you attract the abundance and success you truly desire. If you’re working on the Law of Attraction, yet not seeming to make notable progress, education is one way to help match your vibrations to your intentions.

How do you pick a teacher? Select the person or institution with the mindset you like most. THAT, more than anything, is what will keep you enthused and excited about the future so you are always striving, always thinking of the next great thing you can do instead of dwelling on what went “wrong”.

After the New Moon is exact Tuesday morning, the Moon makes no further aspects until entering Aquarius Wednesday morning. This gives a full day of void time. And this means the energy of the New Moon just hangs there, because we have to “get it” before we can move on.

[ArtCharts] Inspired Astrology Newsletter: New Moon edition: feel better NOW!

_______________

New Moon: Sunday, December 9 @ 12:40 pm est
The Sun and Moon are conjunct in Sagittarius [17 Sagittarius 16]

Feel better now!

The New Moon in Sagittarius occurs every year when the Sun and Moon conjunct in Sagittarius. This is the yearly time of renewed optimism and spiritual seeking. Jupiter rules Sagittarius. And with ruler Jupiter conjunct Pluto, it’s time for a soul journey that lifts your spirit with penetrating depth. It’s time to be inspired by what is most profound; to purify and regenerate.

This isn’t just another New Moon. The ruler Jupiter conjunct Pluto tells us this is a major shift in perspective and understanding. This is a time to see the world from the perspective of your higher self. Instead of finding little things to criticize (which lowers your vibration), elevate the mood. Give your spirit the space it needs to soar. Let yourself feel forgiveness, appreciation, and gratitude, and let those feelings extend to generosity; allow everyone to achieve and feel their best. As Jupiter and Pluto conjunct at the New Moon, you can do it!

In Sagittarius, you naturally find the best in everything and everyone. Profound spiritual progress can be made using humor. It’s not as silly as it sounds. Recent research has shown that laughter actually makes chemical changes in our bodies, starting with our energetic body. Laughter is a signal to our immune system that all is well. And our bodies respond INSTANTLY. What if it’s not so much what you’re doing but how you FEEL? What if it’s not about judging but about feeling better? Gathering with friends and family, traveling, reading, and education can help to elevate your spirit.

Going to parties and gatherings can make you feel good, and that’s the point. To feel better. And not just for a few minutes or hours. Sharing good cheer and inspiration can change your mood and improve your health, as well as help you to attract abundance. Abundance doesn’t have to be in the form of money. It can be. But abundance can be whatever YOU feel is abundance. And the best part about having abundance– it gives you more to share. And that creates more abundance. This New Moon can be the start of a new cycle of abundance. And all you need to start it is to feel good. That doesn’t mean you have to be perfect, or giddy. Just find the next thought that makes you feel better instead of worse. And then the next, and on it goes. If you start to feel discouraged, think of anything or anyone that makes you happy. Let your body feel that happiness and watch how much better you start to feel.

This Sagittarius New Moon can uncover a revelation that can give you a powerful AHA! moment that can change your life. Maybe not today. But in the future and for many years to come.

The role of Saturn-Uranus
As the Sun and Moon conjunct, forming the New Moon, they are at the focal point of a T-Square that includes Saturn and Uranus. This means they square Uranus in one direction and Saturn in the other (see the latest blog post: Mercury-Saturn-Uranus: doing the SQUARE dance). And Mercury, approaching a conjunction to the Sun (Monday, December 17), is also part of the T-Square. Besides making the weather an issue that can effect travel this holiday season, the T-square can also stimulate your personal interest in whatever subjects you enjoy and make you more of an independent thinker. But how do you communicate your original or unusual ideas? Do you feel defensive and become rebellious when others aren’t up to speed? Do you trip over your racing thoughts, act too impulsively, and scatter your energy?

The Sun/Moon is also the midpoint of Saturn/Uranus (moving from Saturn to Uranus): how do you balance idealism with realism? Although you may be excited about future possibilities, not everyone will be in agreement and there could be controversy about new or revolutionary ideas, and some thinking can seem extremist. Conflict can be distracting and nerve-wracking enough to make you feel on edge. The opposition of Saturn and Uranus will be a defining theme of 2008.

On November 4, 2008 (at 8:21 am est), Election Day in the USA, Saturn and Uranus will exactly oppose. What happens the week before and after this Sagittarius New Moon can set the stage for the results of Election day. The Saturn-Uranus opposition shows that WILL is in conflict with REASON. Some of us would rather defy than change, while on the other extreme, others would rather CHANGE than be realistic. The goal is to create balanced, meaningful change based on real needs. We are likely to see a large split between those who want to hold on to the status quo and those who want change. Reform or conform is the question we may all need to ask ourselves in 2008. The challenge is to put facts before impulse. If you are clear within yourself, you can extend that to others. If you are filled with quickly changing impulses and uncertain about taking a chance, you can spread nervous energy, which can make it harder to feel free and peaceful within yourself.

The Quantum Grid
This is a time of dramatic, positive growth. It represents a major paradigm shift into a quantum world. With unified wave theory, we not only realize, we have scientific PROOF that we are all connected by energy grids, within our bodies, to each other, to planet Earth, and to the solar system and beyond. It’s what Stephen Hawking calls “the mind of God.” This is not dependent on how close you are. Just like we are living farther apart and connecting more easily, distance may not be as far as previously believed. I’m not a physicist (although I was a copyeditor for the American Institute of Physics), but there are many books and authors putting out ideas that prove that we are connected through our awareness. We CAN tune in and tune up.

More about Jupiter-Pluto: because it’s all about expansion
Jupiter conjuncts Pluto: December 11 @ 2:26 pm est
December has been billed (by astrologers I’ve read) as a culmination time. Yet, it is actually a time of new beginnings. All conjunctions are beginnings of new cycles. Like the New Moon, which happens when the Sun and Moon are in the same degree of the zodiac and starts a new cycle, the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction represents the beginning of a new cycle.

Jupiter is the storyteller of the zodiac. As Jupiter and Pluto conjunct, the underlying power of your stories can become obvious. What stories do you tell? Do you tell the truth, to yourself, to others? This conjunction can help you see how deeply those stories effect you as they color your beliefs and your potential.

The last time Jupiter and Pluto were conjunct on the Galactic Center (discovered in the 1960s) was in 1758. This Jupiter-Pluto conjunction is a major shift in perception. Our mass consciousness (represented by Pluto) is walking through a new doorway and will never be the same again. Yet, true to Pluto, this may not be the kind of growth or transformation that is immediately visible. Pluto hides, keeps secrets, and buries. Pluto composts, disintegrating what is used and transforming it into new life. Ultimately, Pluto is renewal; the phoenix rising from its ashes. But in true Jupiter style, this happens in the future. And meanwhile, whatever is being rebuilt may not be immediately obvious. This is a shift in belief systems and philosophy, and although it may be obvious to future-seekers, it may not manifest until Pluto, Jupiter, and the Sun enter Capricorn, the ultimate manifester. This promises to be a landmark Winter Solstice.

Historic and future tidbits
When Jupiter and Pluto made their last conjunction in 1758, the leaders of the coming revolutions in the US and France were being born, but the actual revolutions did not happen for another 18+ years. Major worldwide change was literally in its infancy. In 1758, neither Pluto nor the Galactic Center had been discovered, so this is the first Jupiter-Pluto conjunction ON the Galactic Center occurring WITH our awareness.

Each Jupiter-Pluto conjunction is in the subsequent sign. In recent history, there was a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in late Leo in 1955-56. The next conjunction was in Virgo in 1968, then Libra in 1981, then Scorpio in 1994, now Sagittarius. The next Jupiter-Pluto conjunction is in Capricorn in 2020 and then Aquarius in 2045.

SECTION 2. Using Astrology for Your Greatest Benefit
The conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto at the Galactic Center, along with the New Moon in nature-loving Sagittarius and Mercury in Sagittarius is a wake-up call to take care of our planet. Jupiter and Sagittarius in the horoscope represent nature and the great outdoors, mountaintops, eagles, and places that inspire awe. Sagittarius reminds us that we need to preserve the great diversity of wildlife and foliage that is threatened with extinction and bring them back from the brink. Mercury reminds us that we need to speak and write about our environment so that we educate and inform ourselves and each other. Each of us has a role we can play. And when we find it and work together, we can be powerful (always the intention of Pluto).

The Green Report gives you a chart reading that relates your inner nature to how you can best work with “outer” nature to heal and protect planet Earth. What plants and animals do you resonate with? How can you apply your natural talents to help maintain and preserve nature in your environment?

The Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius gives hope for healing the environment. But we all need to do our part. If you have ideas for protecting a species, recycling, or avoiding disaster, it’s time to speak out. Joining with others (Pluto rules toxins and mass movements) could change the future direction of the planet. Even if you just start recycling now, you will have a positive impact on the planet.

Scorpio New Moon and Mars stations Retrograde: embracing your power, or tangled up in glue?

Happy New Moon in Scorpio!

This is the Scorpio New Moon. It’s time to look deeper, below the surface, behind the facade. Instead of the obvious, it’s time to focus our attention to inner realms because they hold the key to secrets and mysteries. Our dreams can bring hidden feelings to the surface as they unlock and communicate messages from the subconscious. That’s why it’s a good time of year to sleep. The nights are cool, long, and dark, especially at the New Moon.

New Moons are seed times, when you cannot SEE the results of your work, but you still plant, having faith that your seed will take hold, be nourished, and grow. What you DON’T see is what’s important at the New Moon. So what are we NOT seeing?

The Scorpio New Moon is the time to look at what scares you. What do you hide from? What really matters, deep inside? In Scorpio, you don’t have to look at your shadow alone! It’s not even recommended because Scorpio is fixed water and if you delve alone, you can get obsessed by the darkness. Scorpio wants a partner, and you may find someone whose penetrating insight and honesty can help you shed light on what’s dark.

In modern astrology, Scorpio is ruled by Pluto; and in Classical astrology (or any astrology practiced before 1930), Scorpio is ruled by Mars. When you study horary or transit charts, you will notice that personal issues are described by Mars, while large-scale social issues come under the domain of Pluto. For most of us, most of the time, Mars still rules Scorpio.

Mars in Cancer is in “mutual reception” to the Moon in Scorpio. They are both in each other’s rulership sign. Mars rules Scorpio, while the Moon rules Cancer. This can awaken your need to be needed, physically. Your strong, courageous actions can protect your home and family and make you feel like you’re in control. Yet, if there is no way to vent emotions, they can come unglued at the wrong time, and with tidal-wave force.

Mars, the personal ruler of the New Moon, is hardly moving as Mars in Cancer prepares to make a Retrograde station next week, November 15. Before Mars resumes forward motion on January 30, 2008, Mars will Retrograde out of Cancer, all the way back to 24 degrees Gemini.

Whatever part of your chart contains 24 Gemini to 12 Cancer can experience an energy shift. In the USA chart, Mars will make its Retrograde station conjunct the USA natal Sun. And Mars will Retrograde back to 24 Gemini, just 3 degrees from the US Mars at 21 Gemini. The entire country is reviewing it’s energy policy.

Everyone wants to know when Mars Retrograde ends, but you can’t hold your breath until January 30! Mars stationing Retrograde is a chance to look– again– at how you use your ENERGY. And despite frustrations and set backs, there are also opportunities. At the New Moon, Mars is TRINE the Sun and Moon and in mutual reception to the Moon; the path to progress is eased because you CAN take the heat! Great ideas can be forged, even if you can’t set plans in motion as quickly as you’d like.

This is more than Mars stationing Retrograde. This is a very close connection to the Moon. Mars is also: in its FALL in Cancer, in mutual reception to the Moon, out-of-bounds (OOB) by declination, and trine Uranus. Mars Retrograde alone is challenging, and all these factors combined can give this Mars Retrograde an EXTREMELY out-of-control quality. And if that’s not enough to make the energy feel unstable, the Moon is at a high declination and moving out of bounds. When Mars stations Retrograde on November 15, the Moon will also be out-of-bounds at 24 S 53 (contra-parallel to Mars at 24 N 2 8) and approaching perigee (closest to the Earth) on November 24. That’s a lot of volatile energy starting to boil.

Using your energy spontaneously can suddenly take you beyond your conscious boundaries of action and aggression. When does stimulation become aggression? When does passion become obsession? And when does obsession overtake your productive energy and hold you back instead of give you energy?

Retrograde, Mars can drain our energy, making it harder to take direct action. And the more we hold our desires inside, the more frustrated we can start to feel. Yet, impulsive or premature action can result in a setback and you may not really feel more energized or sincerely motivated until Mars starts to move direct, especially in the area of your chart where you have 24 Gemini to 12 Cancer. Using more force won’t open a locked door, but using the right key (Gemini) will.

With Mars Retrograde in water-sign Cancer (where Mars is in its Fall), energy and emotions meet. Automatic reactions can have consequences. But– if you can become more conscious of your automatic responses, you can be the one in control of your actions. This is about your (Mars) relationship to your Self (Cancer). Cancer can get stuck in a rut, and when Mars is Retrograde in Cancer, we can see how we made our ruts. One way to get out of the same old rut is to stop blaming others and being angry at them. If you can stop that automatic reaction, you can get some insight into how and why you got to the point you’re at right now. There are sensitive, private feelings you’re trying to protect, where you need more nurturing, understanding, love, compassion, forgiveness, and release. Holding them takes energy you could be using for …..

Before we wonder how we can be responsible for our subconscious, let’s take another look at the subconscious. Unlike your conscious self, your subconscious self does not know how to lie! It can only tell you YOUR truth. That’s why we feel so profoundly moved by our dreams. But most of us don’t want to see or acknowledge our subconscious. We don’t want to know, and we try to hold it back so we don’t have to look. Yet, that kind of repression is what congeals energy from free-flowing into a solid goopy mass that is harder and harder to process. What if your subconscious was your best friend, always there to give you the best advice, for you, if only you would listen to it!

Mars Retrograde in Cancer can make us wonder where we have an energy leak. How do you give away your power and drain your energy? Do you know that when you give you power away your also drain other people. Then you wonder why other people seemed uninterested and cool to you, after you gave so much. If you don’t take your power, you are drawing it from other people, and instead of feeling energized from your interaction, others lose energy, and therefore interest in pursuing a friendship, partnership, business transaction, etc. That’s your underlying shame leaking through. If you can realize that, you can maintain your power, and other people will also feel energized in your presence. You can use your natural energy and vitality in positive ways instead of letting your automatic responses take over. Mars Retrograde can make our actions more subconscious than conscious as energy coming through us can feel either overwhelming or less than enough.

So how do we lose energy? Mars Retrograde gives the image of choking back tears. Holding back or repressing our emotions turns them into a force that prevents us from moving forward. We get stuck in our anger. It’s not ANGER that is toxic, but the way we express it that creates negative spirals. We get irritated, irate, upset, argue, have accidents, cut our fingers, get infections, run a fever, get headaches, or feel enraged at little things. We point the finger and blame others because WE are so sweet and good we couldn’t possibly be angry or aggressive, it’s obviously all THAT bad person’s fault. We cannot admit when we have bad thoughts, so the bad thoughts make us FEEL bad and we take on the feeling that we have done something wrong. And from that bad feeling, we feel worse, and worse. So how can we turn anger into courage?

Mars Retrograde in Cancer also gives the image of melting anger. If you can realize the inner subconscious source of your anger, you can heal it from the roots (Cancer) and dynamically change your life. This can take outside guidance, since you can’t possibly see all your blind spots. Yet, you can change old patterns that are based on old identity beliefs. Denying your feelings keeps you stuck because it’s only through feeling them that they can dissolve. Denying feelings keeps you subconsciously living with frustration, fear, and anger, and those emotions keep you from being HERE and NOW. Believing our stories that cast us in the role of being “good” prevents us from being whole and helps us build defenses. And these defenses protect us from feeling emotions we really don’t want to feel. Yet, stuffing the bad feelings keeps them subconsciously alive and well, ready to add on to any situation and create a reason for a reaction.

This is Mars in Cancer from the New Age Adult Report. This reports is based on the work of Louise Haye, so If you’re familiar with her work, i hope you’ll enjoy this: .

“Everything you do depends on your mood. When you feel positive and happy you act with confidence and security. But when you feel depressed you show your irritability and impatience. It is probable that you do not adequately vent your aggressions and if you find yourself hurt by someone, you can bear a grudge. This astrological position could indicate that your home life was tense or discordant, with frequent arguments and disagreements, or, that you had a dominant mother with whom it was easy to fight. In spite of the lack of harmony that could exist in your home, you feel a great loyalty towards your family. In the face of an emergency you will be calm and firm. It is important that you learn to direct your energies with discipline and continuity, to be more tolerant of criticism, and to moderate your aggressiveness when it appears.”

To adapt this description of Mars in Cancer for right now, Mars in Cancer can point to disruptions in your CURRENT home or familylife, someone in your family trying (or passive/aggressively trying) to get their needs met, making fighting seem to be shadow boxing. Who’s right? It’s hard to say and it doesn’t really matter.

And from Your Spiritual Path
“With Mars in Cancer, your spiritual persona is expressed most fluently through the Feeling function. You are like a steam engine in many ways. Once you get rolling, it is nearly impossible to slow you down. You are able and willing to push into territory that other people shrink from, and you come out of difficult situations more or less in one piece, with your enthusiasm intact. You exemplify the connection between the past and the future in your devotion to whatever task you set for yourself. You are not satisfied until this connection has been made and you understand it. Spiritually you have to understand your karma from the past in order to guide your present decisions. Thus you may press deeper into your personal and family history, and even into past lives.”

Once Mars makes its Direct station and re-enters Cancer (on March 4, 2008), Mars will oppose Pluto at 0 degrees Capricorn. (Pluto is changing signs, always a major signal of a change in world focus, but before that happens, there’s a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction on December 18, more on that soon…) The issues you don’t clear up now can become MAJOR issues by Spring.

Many of us were taught very young (Cancer) to shut down our emotions (Cancer), so while Mars is Retrograde in Cancer, we may experience unconscious displays of emotions that have been kept in the dark as we pretend they don’t exist because, after all, that was so many years ago….

Yet, the subtle feelings persist and continue to color our every day lives. They influence our relationships, and they even influence how we talk to ourselves. As Mars Retrogrades from Cancer back into Gemini, it’s an opportune time to pay more attention to HOW YOU TALK TO YOURSELF. I don’t mean out loud, i mean to yourself. How much do you talk yourself out of everything you want? While Mars is Retrograde in Cancer you may realize how much of your automatic self-talk is unconscious. It’s “just” the way we were taught to be as we grew up, what we learned from the grown ups around us. This is not ANYONE’s fault. It’s the way culture changes, slowly, over generations.

On a financial level, Mars will station Retrograde in Cancer and exactly conjunct the USA Sun. Mars has a cutting effect, and when it comes to business or any financial transaction, Mars cuts prices. Cancer rules the home, and with Mars making a Retrograde station conjunction of the US Sun, it’s likely that we’ll see the dollar continue to drop, along with home prices.

What prevents us from abundantly manifesting whatever we want, and keeps us thinking we need to exert more and more and more force to get it is FEAR. Mercury, through affiliation w the archangel Raphael, can facilitate healing unspoken (Mars Retrograde in Mercury) fear. When Mars Retrogrades back into Gemini, you may find a healthy way to give voice to your anger. Speak your mind– with passion!

Libra New Moon: Slow dancing

The New Moon in Libra, the sign of the scales, is the time to create balance.
When you are in balance, you can harmonize with others and enjoy your relationships. Whether you are relating to a person, a pet, something you are doing, or a work of art, you are relating and creating balance and harmony, using the appropriate words, images, colors, tones, gestures, feelings.

To create harmony with others, you need to be diplomatic and able to compromise. If you focus on keeping the peace, your own needs can become less of an issue and you may even overlook something personally important to avoid conflict. There is also a balance between compromising until you lose your integrity and being yourself at all costs.

At the time of the New Moon, the Sun and Moon are conjunct in Libra. Libra is ruled by value-conscious Venus. And Venus is making a semisquare to the Sun and Moon and a conjunction to Saturn– all of this can heighten any gap that exists between what you want and the habits you enjoy that keep you from achieving it.

On this Libra New Moon, Venus conjuncts cautionary Saturn, while Mercury is stationing Retrograde in Scorpio (and will Retrograde back into Libra on October 23, also the day the Sun enters Scorpio). The message is slow down. Something needs to be unraveled and it can’t be done at high speed.

How do we get OUT of balance? By letting the opinions of others limit our reality. And we let ourselves be limited so we can remain at a familiar comfort level. No wonder we’re frustrated! Following someone else’s path is a sure way to get lost, or out of alignment with your Self, your flow, your dream.

Seeking approval is a quick way to feel unsettled and lose your balance. If you are (unconsciously) chasing after approval, this New Moon is an opportunity to release that need. If you are always accommodating others to be fair and stable, you’re not really keeping the peace or creating balance if YOU are out of balance by only giving and not allowing yourself opportunities to receive. You may create peace and harmony, but also lose personal integrity as you put aside what you KNOW is important so you can satisfy the expectations of another person or society in general.

Libra is ruled by Venus and Venus is conjunct Saturn, so it may not be easy to express your feelings and you can be more calculating than unconditional in your feelings towards friends and lovers. You may be socializing more, but it may be more out of work or obligation than enjoyment.

It may seem that people don’t appreciate you. And you may feel that you are not loved for yourself, but for the functions you perform, the financial support you provide, or the work you do. If your commitment to your family usually comes before your career, it can seem that others are far ahead of you.

Releasing the need for approval is a challenge because it means accepting your own less-than-perfect tendencies; your own darkness. It’s hard to accept yourself FULLY. You don’t always approve of yourself or not all your impulses that are nice or friendly or harmonious, and some are uniquely personal.

Venus and Saturn conjunct in early Virgo can magnify any resistance to love. And affection can be harder to demonstrate. Yet, in Virgo, the message is that being a partner in a happy, fulfilling relationship can be taught and learned.

How do you get clear — right NOW– which is the only time there is!? The New Moon (Sun and Moon is trine Neptune and sextile Jupiter. The key is to have a vision. And you can get your vision by meditation, visualization, prayer, creativity, dreamwork, journaling. Let your subconscious have its voice. Open and give yourself inner access, whether that’s by listening, feeling, sensing, or visualizing. However it comes to you, be open and let yourself see beyond what seems to be reality. Singing, dancing, and music can help you channel your sensitivity, and talent is NOT necessary (and may hinder the process if you automatically edit your every impulse). You can change your aura by listening to music, and you can get inspired by watching a movie or reading a book.

Pay attention to your feelings, allow them to be present. And then allow yourself to release hurts and forgive, starting with yourself. This can free up energy that is frozen in position by holding onto hurt that causes you pain. There is always something you get from every experience and once you can realize what that is, you can release any hold that experience may have on you. If you can’t meditate and release by yourself, guided meditation can help you learn to sit silently with yourself, which can take practice. If you don’t have a space that feels sacred and inspiring, this New Moon is the perfect time to create one. It doesn’t have to be large, any space will do. It’s not the size, it’s what you bring to it, the way you decorate and give it personal meaning.

Mercury stationing Retrograde on a New Moon suggests that to get something NEW you may have to rethink something you are obsessing on (Mercury in Scorpio)
This is a message to SLOW DOWN. This is a balancing act that can be done– slowly.

Thoughts are flying fast. Mercury will trine Mars 2 more times (Retrograde on Oct 17 and Direct on Nov 19), and they are both sextile Saturn (Mercury/Mars=Saturn, or Saturn is at the midpoint of Mercury/Mars). This is the time to use your mental energy to make clear and practical decisions. Libra, the Scales, is about balance. To achieve balance on the scale of this New Moon, you will need to tip the scales slowly and cautiously.

If you are experiencing a lack of energy, feeling stuck, apathetic, ashamed, or embarrassed, afraid, anxious, or depressed, you cannot just instantly expect yourself to move to an ecstatic state of pure joy. But– just making the slightest push towards feeling better or shifting your perspective slightly can cause a major turnaround this Autumn. You don’t need to PUSH, just a PING! of encouragement (New Moon - Sun and Moon sextile Jupiter) is enough to set a positive change of direction in motion.

While Mercury is Rx in Scorpio, we may be trying to figure out major, profound problems we recently raced past. While Mercury stops and travels backwards in Scorpio, we may be anxious about what we are sensing, and not ready to get drawn deeper into understanding a mystery. There are still lessons to be learned before we can dive deeper. Perhaps we don’t really know what we want. Or we think about something and immediately negate the possibility that it could happen. During Mercury is Rx in Scorpio we get opportunities to rethink recurring negative thoughts. It’s a great time to slow down your thoughts by journaling or meditating.

If you want to release but you are resisting, what new ideas are you resisting? Jupiter square Uranus symbolizes tradition interfacing with new ways of thinking. And since Uranus rules groups, we are not sure the new vision is aligning with tradition in a way that can create a mindset shift– as a society. Yet old walls and ways are slowly changing and breaking down.

Resistance can even take the form of exuberant enthusiasm. When Jupiter is square Uranus, too much optimism can be unrealistic and encourage you to overdo something, overshoot your goal, thereby missing the mark. Perhaps you think you’re best is never good enough, so you continue to work, polish, edit, do more, and more and more and it’s still not good enough. You can create your own resistance by continuing to do too much, when your first impulse was fine.

From Libra to Scorpio
The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23

While the Sun transits through Libra, it’s time to find balance — the state when body, mind, emotions are aligned. And once we feel this balance, we are in an aligned state of body, mind, emotion with what we want, or our spiritual purpose. And then we are ready to move into a deeper or more spiritual perspective, which is Scorpio.
