The Full Moon in Scorpio on Sunday, April 20
Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon oppose. The Moon is in Mars-ruled Scorpio. The Sun is in Venus-ruled Taurus. This makes the rulers of the Full Moon Venus and Mars. And planets Venus and Mars are currently in a challenging square aspect that includes Jupiter.
Grand Trine with a Kite
There is hope! There is a Grand Trine that includes Saturn trine Sun-Mercury trine Pluto. Both Saturn and Pluto sextile the Full Scorpio Moon, creating a Kite to the Full Moon. This is sounding better!
The meaning of a KITE formation is assured good fortune. Yet, not everyone will enjoy supreme good fortune. Who will? And how?
Anyone who can get in the flow with whatever it takes to succeed. There is finally an outlet for your drive to work at your talents and attract the success you want– right to you.
The location of the Full Moon in your birth chart, especially the house ruled by the Moon, shows where you may receive additional benefits when you focus on the practical realities of achieving your goals.
This Grand Trine with a Kite can make us very successful– if we’re willing to take responsibility and not blame people or situations. If you had nothing to do with what happened, how can you change it? Or improve it?
When we stay positive, we can be resourceful and find better ways of making more money.
You can attract the success you want– directly to you. The caveat is that we can become obsessed with the material possessions our success affords. We can direct all our energy towards getting more and collect possessions that we don’t really need, or want.
The main part of the Grand Trine is the year-long trine of Saturn to Pluto. At this time, you may realize your life purpose. And the next question is: how are you going to achieve it? Thinking about it, being 100% positive about the results, is a good way to vision your goals. But this is an EARTH Grand Trine that includes serious heavy-weights Saturn and Pluto, with the Sun in Taurus. This is the time to be practical and set goals. And you can set goals more easily if you know your priorities. Not everyone’s priorities are the same. This Full Moon at 0 Scorpio can reveal the best way for you to work towards your goals, not the cool coverup that will help you continue to pretend to be doing “just fine”. Or living on autopilot.
The KITE to the FULL MOON in Scorpio shows that what is normally hidden can become public. This is a FULL MOON after all! The light is shining brightly on what we may rather keep secret. Yet, it’s time for spring cleaning, which means finding and removing the dust, darkness, and debris. We can reveal the fear for what it is, instead of pretending it’s not there and blaming whoever is convenient in the moment, whether it’s a partner, child, boss, employee, friend, relative, bad driver, or neighbor.
What do we keep hidden? What we think others think about us. And that degree of internal stress is a killer. Literally. But it can be released. You don’t have to carry the judgments of others who do not care to understand what has brought you to this point. It is easy to judge someone– our egos love any opportunity to put ourselves above someone else. Yet, any negative thought increases tension, apprehension, paranoia, stress. It adds up and it doesn’t feel good.
Yet— there’s a KITE. We can feel great! If– we’re willing to stop judging, stop taking on the negative judgments of others, and lean into what you’re really good at doing, your talent. If what you pursue is YOUR choice, you will have energy. Even if you’re doing the exact same tasks. If it’s not your choice, you will feel a lack of energy, a sense of drudgery. But this is helpful. It’s telling you this is not your flow.
The State of Mars
Scorpio’s personal ruler is planet Mars. The influence of this Full Moon in Scorpio is revealed by the condition of Mars in the Full Moon chart. Mars is in Cancer, part of a T-Square, and in mutual reception to the Full Moon in Scorpio. Mars is also trine Uranus, bringing something wild into our lives.
Mars in Cancer is currently square Venus and approaching a an opposition to Jupiter (April 24).
As in the previous New Moon, the Moon and Mars are again in “mutual reception” (in each other’s signs). The Moon is in Mars ruled-Scorpio, Mars is in Moon-ruled Cancer.
The effect of the mutual reception is that the planets become interchangeable. This puts Mars in the place of the Moon. Mars, as well as the Moon, is at the focal point of the Kite. It also makes the Moon part of the T-square, integrating the Kite with the T-Square. This is the time to step up and start getting things done.
The mutual reception gives Mars more focus. What you concentrate on, you can achieve. If you feel obstructed or prevented from doing what you know you need to do, you can start to feel irritated, angry energy rising slowly within. This is a signal. You can observe without immediately reacting. You can resolve to realize how far you’ve come in mastering your emotions during this Full Moon. And this can help you to see beyond past limitations.
The T-Square
T-Squares are made of 2 squares and an opposition. Squares and opposition are considered negative because they represent resistance. Yet they also give us reasons to strive, help us to build, and give us momentum. Venus in Aries is at the center of this T-Square– square Mars opposing Jupiter. The pressure to be social is ON. Connect from a distance and close up.
But why are we feeling so driven to socialize? If you are working too hard and trying to get your sense of self-worth from others, you may not be compatible with the people you attract now. The perfect partnership you envision may not exist in the way you imagine, at least not without some effort. And jumping into what seems to be a great relationship may be overlooking possible conflicts of interests.
If you’re just in it for what you can get, you may not come across as being sincerely friendly or caring. But if you really do care, you can interact in a way that creates energy that is so lively and attractive, it encourages people to cooperate.
If your hope is to get more for less, you can get bought out for a lot less than you’re worth, or make an offer that is lower than “market value”. Whether it’s a job or your home, if you (feel you have to) jump to make a quick deal, you can get undercut in self-worth and price. Usually, we have the option to stop, assess, take a deep breath before making a decision. But this is a Mars-Jupiter opposition, so we can be VERY eager to move on something — yesterday.
Venus and Mars square
Venus is quickly approaching a time of stronger influence. Venus in Mars-ruled Aries and squares Mars, the ruling planet of Aries.
Venus is cooperative while Mars looks out for #1. Working together, Venus and Mars can create a harmonious give and take. Working at cross purposes, symbolized by the square aspect, one can give, the other can disregard requests for cooperation and take whatever they can get. But being cooperative can work against you if you become dependent on others to make decisions. Venus also carries the theme of choices. When Venus is strong, there can be something you need to decide. If our choices depend on what we think others want, we can work against ourselves. When someone tells us what we SHOULD do, the feeling that comes up most often is anger. Most of us don’t like being told what we “should” do. So we don’t really want others to make our decisions for us! The solution is not to get angry, it’s to get aware. Living for what we think others think we should do starts to sound like an excuse, a fear of judgment for taking action.
So what does it matter if we send someone an angry thought? Because it wears the sender down even more than the sendee. When every thought is what someone else would or shouldn’t do, we are blocking our own access to thinking positively about our own situations. We are dwelling in bad energy and blocking what we CAN do to encourage better social interactions, more peaceful solutions, more harmony, more love and joy. And this is a KITE to the Full Scorpio Moon– an opportunity to transform our emotions. We can let go of negativity and resentments. We don’t have to hold on to being offended, hurt, wrongly judged. We can bless it and let it go!

ArtCharts Chart Tips
Rulerships: connecting the dots
Many people tell me they understand the basics of chart reading. They understand what it means to have a planet in a sign and house. But putting it all together seems beyond reach. It’s not hard if you know a few techniques.
Rulerships establish connections between planets, signs, and houses in a chart.
These are the houses, signs, and planets that are most-closely connected.
- 1st house - Aries - Mars
- 2nd house - Taurus - Venus
- 3rd Gemini - Mercury
- 4th house - Cancer - Moon
- 5th house - Leo - Sun
- 6th house - Virgo - Mercury
- 7th house - Libra - Venus
- 8th house - Scorpio - Pluto (Mars)
- 9th house - Sagittarius - Jupiter
- 10th house - Capricorn - Saturn
- 11th house Aquarius - Uranus (Saturn)
- 12th house - Pisces - Neptune (Jupiter)

Seeing a Sun in the 5th house in Leo tells you that’s a strong Sun. Taurus may not feel as much at home in the 11th house as it does in the 2nd. Planets located in houses or signs opposing their rulership positions are often in what is called a “debilitated” or poor condition and don’t express themselves as easily or naturally as planets and signs in rulership positions. More on elevated and debilitated planets to come…

The LifePath report is the only report that contains a section on house rulerships. It tells you where the ruler of each house is located in your chart and what that means. LifePath shows how the planets in your chart link to your houses, suggesting the kind of options you may have in your life.
In the Full Moon chart, Taurus is on the cusp of the 1st house, making Venus the ruler of the 1st house. Venus is in the 12th house, so the ruler of the 1st house, Venus, is actually located in the 12th house and according to LifePath Report it means that:
“Your outlook on life can be brought into balance by spending some time alone to meditate and recharge your batteries.
Avoid becoming your own adversary by falling into the “woe is me” victim trap. Spiritual philosophies that go beyond traditional orthodox viewpoints can bring revealing insights into your life and the meaning of it all.
You may identify somehow with large public institutions that provide a service to society, especially the helping professions.”
