Mars opposes Jupiter: April 24

One of the main astrological events of the week is the Mars-Jupiter opposition. This is JUMP-to-conclusions energy, the kind that your ego loves! The kind of energy that jumps at any chance to prove it’s right, and the other person deserves to be trounced, blasted, crushed before you’ve thought it through — immediately!

Mars is about passion. What’s so seductive about blaming someone for not doing what they “should” have done? The ego gets excited when it thinks it has a way to control people, something that cannot be argued, only followed immediately. And this presumes you know what the other person needs– better than they do. That’s a lot to take on! No wonder it often backfires, especially obvious during a strong Mars-Jupiter opposition.

Before you jump to a conclusion, check your facts. This is a JUPITER opposition, so the temptation to stretch and exaggerate the truth is strong.

This once-every-2-year event is super charged by its ties to the last New and Full Moons. Mars is not only opposing Jupiter, Mars is square Venus and trine Uranus.

This is a time to step up and do more. Being eager is exciting. Yet if you push it too far this week, you can wind up with more, or less than you expected. And you can alienate friends and allies if you’re moving too fast to be sensitive.

T-Square

When Mars and Jupiter oppose, they are both square Venus — and Pallas. Venus and Pallas are conjunct, putting both Venus AND Pallas at the center of this week’s T-Square. Venus-Pallas squares Mars and Jupiter. This explains why people who are talented, artistic, creative, are being referred to in the media as “elitist”. This is why Hillary doesn’t have a chance. Not this week, which is a crucial week in her campaign. This does not mean I am putting a judgment out or saying she doesn’t have the talent, ability, and drive to do the job. But right now people on this planet may not understand or rally to endorse an assertive woman. Or a creative man. But it can push them to try harder.

It’s important to express outrage during this Mars-Jupiter. And the way it’s done will decide whether or not we can be effective in expressing our outrage. To come across in a way that’s genuine, believable, and effective, we have to be aware of our own internal conflicts and able to maintain our cool and confidence in any situation. If you have an important message or agenda, something you need to get done, you will need to be assertive and watch any tendency to become aggressive or defensive, signs that you have not worked out your own internal conflicts and may not come across as a someone worthy of trust or capable of sincerity.

Besides from behavior, this is a week you can spend on indulgences. Something you decided was too expensive may be the thing you have to purchase this week. Even if you blow your budget or accept less than you’re worth, you can make friends and influence people with your positive energy and generosity. Holding on out of fear can help to deplete your bank account, while sincerely feeling your gratitude can start a positive trend. Quickly.

Aspects to Jupiter often indicate luck, so even if you do take it a bit too far, you’re still likely to luck out. Things can work out better than expected. Sometimes you have to push a little harder to make big things happen. Sometimes that offends people, but if the work and good feelings you’re extending are exciting and can benefit yourself and others, you can find yourself riding a wave of success now and in the near future.

good luck :-)

The Full Moon in Scorpio on Sunday, April 20

Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon oppose. The Moon is in Mars-ruled Scorpio. The Sun is in Venus-ruled Taurus. This makes the rulers of the Full Moon Venus and Mars. And planets Venus and Mars are currently in a challenging square aspect that includes Jupiter.

Grand Trine with a Kite
There is hope! There is a Grand Trine that includes Saturn trine Sun-Mercury trine Pluto. Both Saturn and Pluto sextile the Full Scorpio Moon, creating a Kite to the Full Moon. This is sounding better!

The meaning of a KITE formation is assured good fortune. Yet, not everyone will enjoy supreme good fortune. Who will? And how?

Anyone who can get in the flow with whatever it takes to succeed. There is finally an outlet for your drive to work at your talents and attract the success you want– right to you.

The location of the Full Moon in your birth chart, especially the house ruled by the Moon, shows where you may receive additional benefits when you focus on the practical realities of achieving your goals.

This Grand Trine with a Kite can make us very successful– if we’re willing to take responsibility and not blame people or situations. If you had nothing to do with what happened, how can you change it? Or improve it?

When we stay positive, we can be resourceful and find better ways of making more money.

You can attract the success you want– directly to you. The caveat is that we can become obsessed with the material possessions our success affords. We can direct all our energy towards getting more and collect possessions that we don’t really need, or want.

The main part of the Grand Trine is the year-long trine of Saturn to Pluto. At this time, you may realize your life purpose. And the next question is: how are you going to achieve it? Thinking about it, being 100% positive about the results, is a good way to vision your goals. But this is an EARTH Grand Trine that includes serious heavy-weights Saturn and Pluto, with the Sun in Taurus. This is the time to be practical and set goals. And you can set goals more easily if you know your priorities. Not everyone’s priorities are the same. This Full Moon at 0 Scorpio can reveal the best way for you to work towards your goals, not the cool coverup that will help you continue to pretend to be doing “just fine”. Or living on autopilot.

The KITE to the FULL MOON in Scorpio shows that what is normally hidden can become public. This is a FULL MOON after all! The light is shining brightly on what we may rather keep secret. Yet, it’s time for spring cleaning, which means finding and removing the dust, darkness, and debris. We can reveal the fear for what it is, instead of pretending it’s not there and blaming whoever is convenient in the moment, whether it’s a partner, child, boss, employee, friend, relative, bad driver, or neighbor.

What do we keep hidden? What we think others think about us. And that degree of internal stress is a killer. Literally. But it can be released. You don’t have to carry the judgments of others who do not care to understand what has brought you to this point. It is easy to judge someone– our egos love any opportunity to put ourselves above someone else. Yet, any negative thought increases tension, apprehension, paranoia, stress. It adds up and it doesn’t feel good.

Yet— there’s a KITE. We can feel great! If– we’re willing to stop judging, stop taking on the negative judgments of others, and lean into what you’re really good at doing, your talent. If what you pursue is YOUR choice, you will have energy. Even if you’re doing the exact same tasks. If it’s not your choice, you will feel a lack of energy, a sense of drudgery. But this is helpful. It’s telling you this is not your flow.

The State of Mars
Scorpio’s personal ruler is planet Mars. The influence of this Full Moon in Scorpio is revealed by the condition of Mars in the Full Moon chart. Mars is in Cancer, part of a T-Square, and in mutual reception to the Full Moon in Scorpio. Mars is also trine Uranus, bringing something wild into our lives.

Mars in Cancer is currently square Venus and approaching a an opposition to Jupiter (April 24).

As in the previous New Moon, the Moon and Mars are again in “mutual reception” (in each other’s signs). The Moon is in Mars ruled-Scorpio, Mars is in Moon-ruled Cancer.

The effect of the mutual reception is that the planets become interchangeable. This puts Mars in the place of the Moon. Mars, as well as the Moon, is at the focal point of the Kite. It also makes the Moon part of the T-square, integrating the Kite with the T-Square. This is the time to step up and start getting things done.

The mutual reception gives Mars more focus. What you concentrate on, you can achieve. If you feel obstructed or prevented from doing what you know you need to do, you can start to feel irritated, angry energy rising slowly within. This is a signal. You can observe without immediately reacting. You can resolve to realize how far you’ve come in mastering your emotions during this Full Moon. And this can help you to see beyond past limitations.

The T-Square
T-Squares are made of 2 squares and an opposition. Squares and opposition are considered negative because they represent resistance. Yet they also give us reasons to strive, help us to build, and give us momentum. Venus in Aries is at the center of this T-Square– square Mars opposing Jupiter. The pressure to be social is ON. Connect from a distance and close up.

But why are we feeling so driven to socialize? If you are working too hard and trying to get your sense of self-worth from others, you may not be compatible with the people you attract now. The perfect partnership you envision may not exist in the way you imagine, at least not without some effort. And jumping into what seems to be a great relationship may be overlooking possible conflicts of interests.

If you’re just in it for what you can get, you may not come across as being sincerely friendly or caring. But if you really do care, you can interact in a way that creates energy that is so lively and attractive, it encourages people to cooperate.

If your hope is to get more for less, you can get bought out for a lot less than you’re worth, or make an offer that is lower than “market value”. Whether it’s a job or your home, if you (feel you have to) jump to make a quick deal, you can get undercut in self-worth and price. Usually, we have the option to stop, assess, take a deep breath before making a decision. But this is a Mars-Jupiter opposition, so we can be VERY eager to move on something — yesterday.

Venus and Mars square
Venus is quickly approaching a time of stronger influence. Venus in Mars-ruled Aries and squares Mars, the ruling planet of Aries.

Venus is cooperative while Mars looks out for #1. Working together, Venus and Mars can create a harmonious give and take. Working at cross purposes, symbolized by the square aspect, one can give, the other can disregard requests for cooperation and take whatever they can get. But being cooperative can work against you if you become dependent on others to make decisions. Venus also carries the theme of choices. When Venus is strong, there can be something you need to decide. If our choices depend on what we think others want, we can work against ourselves. When someone tells us what we SHOULD do, the feeling that comes up most often is anger. Most of us don’t like being told what we “should” do. So we don’t really want others to make our decisions for us! The solution is not to get angry, it’s to get aware. Living for what we think others think we should do starts to sound like an excuse, a fear of judgment for taking action.

So what does it matter if we send someone an angry thought? Because it wears the sender down even more than the sendee. When every thought is what someone else would or shouldn’t do, we are blocking our own access to thinking positively about our own situations. We are dwelling in bad energy and blocking what we CAN do to encourage better social interactions, more peaceful solutions, more harmony, more love and joy. And this is a KITE to the Full Scorpio Moon– an opportunity to transform our emotions. We can let go of negativity and resentments. We don’t have to hold on to being offended, hurt, wrongly judged. We can bless it and let it go!

ArtCharts Chart Tips
Rulerships: connecting the dots
Many people tell me they understand the basics of chart reading. They understand what it means to have a planet in a sign and house. But putting it all together seems beyond reach. It’s not hard if you know a few techniques.

Rulerships establish connections between planets, signs, and houses in a chart.

These are the houses, signs, and planets that are most-closely connected.

  • 1st house - Aries - Mars
  • 2nd house - Taurus - Venus
  • 3rd Gemini - Mercury
  • 4th house - Cancer - Moon
  • 5th house - Leo - Sun
  • 6th house - Virgo - Mercury
  • 7th house - Libra - Venus
  • 8th house - Scorpio - Pluto (Mars)
  • 9th house - Sagittarius - Jupiter
  • 10th house - Capricorn - Saturn
  • 11th house Aquarius - Uranus (Saturn)
  • 12th house - Pisces - Neptune (Jupiter)

And click to see artcharts Rulership Chart online

Seeing a Sun in the 5th house in Leo tells you that’s a strong Sun. Taurus may not feel as much at home in the 11th house as it does in the 2nd. Planets located in houses or signs opposing their rulership positions are often in what is called a “debilitated” or poor condition and don’t express themselves as easily or naturally as planets and signs in rulership positions. More on elevated and debilitated planets to come…

The LifePath report is the only report that contains a section on house rulerships. It tells you where the ruler of each house is located in your chart and what that means. LifePath shows how the planets in your chart link to your houses, suggesting the kind of options you may have in your life.

In the Full Moon chart, Taurus is on the cusp of the 1st house, making Venus the ruler of the 1st house. Venus is in the 12th house, so the ruler of the 1st house, Venus, is actually located in the 12th house and according to LifePath Report it means that:

“Your outlook on life can be brought into balance by spending some time alone to meditate and recharge your batteries.
Avoid becoming your own adversary by falling into the “woe is me” victim trap. Spiritual philosophies that go beyond traditional orthodox viewpoints can bring revealing insights into your life and the meaning of it all.
You may identify somehow with large public institutions that provide a service to society, especially the helping professions.”

This Weekend: Sun, Mercury, Saturn & Uranus: doing the SQUARE dance

While Venus is making pleasant aspects and encouraging us to socialize and shop, we may also have inner doubts about our real-life progress and stability.

The Sun and Mercury, planets of inner centering and knowledge gathering, are square Saturn and Uranus from Thursday, December 6 [Mercury squares Saturn] href=”http://www.artcharts.com/aspects/mercury/sqUranus.html”>Mercury squares Uranus. The Sun squares Saturn on November 30 and Uranus on Friday, December 7. [Although the Sun-Saturn square was Friday, November 30, the energy carries over through the T-Square.]

The Sun and Mercury are at the focal point of a MUTABLE T-square. This means there is PRESSURE on each of us to be credible, authentic, and responsible– and make changes if we’re not. If you need credentials to do the work you know you want to do, this is the time to make plans and make it happen. To the extent that you doubt your own ability and commitment, it may be questioned by someone, whether it’s a friend, neighbor, coworker, or relative, who can all point out just how impossible and challenging your goal really is. And this can, in turn, find you questioning yourself. ARE you goals realistic? What are your PLANS to fulfill them? Good wishes and inspiration are a great start, but if that’s your entire strategy, you are thinking more magically than realistically. And this can start to make you feel frustrated and very impatient if you’re not making progress or doing any of the things you feel CALLED to be doing in your life. The square from Saturn and Uranus to the Sun can create self-doubt, and the square from Mercury can make that doubt seem to come from everyone.

This configuration of Sun-Mercury with Saturn and Uranus can make us feel COMPELLED to do whatever we can to improve ourselves. In Sagittarius, it can seem there is NOTHING you can’t do and you can set your goals at a very high bar. Instead of dabbling, you may decide to pursue a focused course of education.

And if you haven’t considered it before, making a commitment to your future can be just what you need. How will bring out the best in yourself so that you SHINE?

The message in this configuration is to take the time to LISTEN. If it’s you doing all the talking, you may not be receiving information you need. This is a good time to consciously calm your racing mind. You may be 10 steps ahead of yourself, planning the next few weeks as well as thinking about BIG steps to take in the year ahead, so breathing and centering can do wonders to keep you on schedule without feeling hectic or overwhelmed. And as Jupiter and Pluto conjunct in late Sagittarius (before they both enter Capricorn over the next month and a half), this IS a time to think BIG.

This is the time to figure out what you can do to add your wisdom to your community, your environment. By encouraging others, you can lead the way as Mars sextiles Saturn on the Sagittarius New Moon. More on that in the next newsletter, coming this Sunday.
